Dear Chicago residents, GET YOUR ASSES OUT TO THE BALLPARK THIS WEEK! Seriously. Derek Jeter, one of the greatest shortstops in the history of baseball, is coming to the city. Good news: He and the Yankees are playing six games against the Cubs and White Sox. Bad news: This will be the final six chances you get to see him play at Wrigley Field and U.S. Cellular Field. You don't have to be a die-hard to recognize the significance of Jeter's final visit. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

The Chicago Cubs and Wrigley Field concessions partner Levy Restaurants have announced a handful of new ballpark snacks and drinks available this season.  Bloody marys made with mix from local company Uncle Dougie's will be sold at drink carts, while the maker's barbecue sauce will also be featured on a pulled pork sandwich served at Blue W (main concourse near home plate), Trippers (upper deck behind home plate) and Throwbacks (right field bleachers). Fried chicken and waffles are a popular brunch dish, but those craving it at the ballpark can order chicken and waffle "stix" with maple dipping...

Chris Chelios played on some of the most electrifying Blackhawks teams ever, teaming with the likes of Jeremy Roenick and Ed Belfour on a memorable Stanley Cup Final run in the early '90s. So how would his squad fare against the current bunch? "I don't know if we could even outmuscle them or try to run them out of the building because it's not working for St. Louis either," he said. "It's a different game, the speed. They've got a team with so much skill. I wouldn't give us a chance.

The home of the boys of summer is about to be invaded by the stuntmen of winter. Wrigley Field normally is under wraps this time of year, but it's the site for Saturday's Red Bull Fuel + Fury, a freestyle snowmobiling competition featuring eight of the world's top snowmobilers. The lineup of competitors consists of Daniel Bodin, Heath Frisby, Ted Culbertson, Fred Rasmussen, Cory Davis, Jimmy Fejas and Jeff Mullin and 2004 Fuel + Fury winner Justin Hoyer. There are plenty of Chicagoans who might not know a Ski-Doo from Scooby Doo, but it's an easy sport to follow, said Levi LaVallee, a...

The neighborhood parking restrictions in place for night games at Wrigley Field may apply to concerts held at the ballpark. A proposal introduced to the City Council on Wednesday by aldermen Ameya Pawar (47th), James Cappleman (46th), Tom Tunney (44th) and Scott Waguespack (32nd) would extend the LV2 parking permit restrictions. Currently, cars can be towed if they do not have the LV2 parking permit and park between 5-10 p.m. during Cubs night games in the Lakeview area bordered by Irving Park Road, Roscoe Street and Ashland...

The ice rink at Wrigley Field won't open this winter to skaters after a four-year stint. The rink at Wrigley opened in 2009 on the parking lot next to the ballpark at Addison and Clark Streets. But this year, the Cubs decided not to do it again due to plans to overhaul the ballpark property.  "We planned for construction to start this offseason so we had to make a decision on this a few months ago. Unfortunately, we've yet to start to construction and resources have been diverted," Julian Green, Cubs vice president of...

Wrigley and the Cubs had their birthday cake, and now it's in the trash. The 400-pound Cake Boss-created birthday cake for Wrigley's centennial was a spectacle at Wednesday's celebration. Now it's apparently being hauled away to a dumpster on a forklift.  A Reddit user by the name of CheweysDingleberrys (heh) posted a series of photos Thursday of the massive cake looking as sad as Cubs fans walking out of Wrigley Field yesterday. "I have the task of disposing of the 400-pound Cubs cake" he wrote as the title of the post, noting that he...

Cubs fans will have one fewer option for getting to the ballpark this summer. The CTA is no longer running a weekend and night shuttle from a North Side parking lot to Wrigley Field this year. The Cubs decided not to subsidize the No. 154-Wrigley Express, which traveled between DeVry University and Wrigley for a $6 round-trip ticket that included parking, the CTA said. A Cubs spokesman did not immediately respond for comment. About 50,000 rides were taken on the bus last year, up 20 percent from the year before.
