The Cubs have an unlikely ally in their corner when it comes to completing extensive renovations of Wrigley Field in the form of one of the ballpark's most vocal critics. "It's about time," said former White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen. "Finally they start doing the right thing. It's 2013. I think the new owners and the new GM and the new vice president of the ballclub are going in the right direction. " As one of the most vocal critics of Wrigley the past few decades, Guillen's reaction to the proposed renovations should come as a surprise to precisely nobody.

The Chicago Cubs and Wrigley Field concessions partner Levy Restaurants have announced a handful of new ballpark snacks and drinks available this season.  Bloody marys made with mix from local company Uncle Dougie's will be sold at drink carts, while the maker's barbecue sauce will also be featured on a pulled pork sandwich served at Blue W (main concourse near home plate), Trippers (upper deck behind home plate) and Throwbacks (right field bleachers). Fried chicken and waffles are a popular brunch dish, but those craving it at the ballpark can order chicken and waffle "stix" with maple dipping...

Zack Hample was more than nervous. In fact, had the record-setting baseball collector been in his hometown of New York City, he would have taken a U-turn. It doesn't matter if he already had tickets. He'd bite the bullet. But he couldn't do that Wednesday night. U.S. Cellular Field was a worst case scenario.     Steady rain throughout the afternoon flooded out batting practice. “It was the kind of day where streaks end,” Hample said, who has accumulated more than 6,680 balls at MLB games in his lifetime.

The home of the boys of summer is about to be invaded by the stuntmen of winter. Wrigley Field normally is under wraps this time of year, but it's the site for Saturday's Red Bull Fuel + Fury, a freestyle snowmobiling competition featuring eight of the world's top snowmobilers. The lineup of competitors consists of Daniel Bodin, Heath Frisby, Ted Culbertson, Fred Rasmussen, Cory Davis, Jimmy Fejas and Jeff Mullin and 2004 Fuel + Fury winner Justin Hoyer. There are plenty of Chicagoans who might not know a Ski-Doo from Scooby Doo, but it's an easy sport to follow, said Levi LaVallee, a...

After 95 days and about 2,000 miles, a group of five friends and a goat have arrived safely at Wrigley Field. Cubs fan Matt Gregory, 33, said he plans to present a $22,000 check for the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, where Gregory's mom was treated for cancer before she died in 1999, at today's Cubs game against the San Diego Padres. The fundraising effort began on Feb. 25 (Cubs legend Ron Santo's birthday) in Mesa, Ariz., where the Cubs hold Spring Training.

Ending his recap of a recent Cubs loss, a local TV sports anchor said, "D'you know what Cubs fans have to look forward to this summer? Lollapalooza. " My wife, a Sox fan, wondered how I could still get excited about the prospect of going to games at Wrigley Field. "The place is broken down," she said, "and you're only going there to watch them lose. " It's true. I've been to Wrigley plenty of times, but I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen the home team win. Yet even on the countless losing days, I always walked away smiling, knowing I'd be back in no time.

It's the kind of story you might see on a "Real Housewives" reality show. Rich Guy isn't satisfied with his wife anymore. She's aging naturally and the wrinkles are setting in. Sure, she's popular and most people love her just the way she is, warts and all, but Rich Guy sees other rich guys with young, smoking hot trophy wives. Thinking he can do better, Rich Guy tries to alter her looks with his money. Buys her Botox. Breast implants. A tummy tuck. But afterward, everyone realizes she's lost part of the quirky character that made...

As police search for the person who delivered to Wrigley Field a goat head addressed to Cubs owner Tom Ricketts, the rest of Chicago is left wondering where the heck one might find such an item in the first place. Turns out, it's not that hard. “Simple,” said Paulina Meat Market owner Bill Begale. “We're getting goats in next Monday and we get 'em with the head on. There's no use for them. There's no use for them except goofy stuff.” A package with the head arrived Wednesday at the park and did not include a note, according to reports.

I'm not much of a country music fan, but at this point I'm in favor of anything happening at Wrigley Field that gets people excited. Wrigley Field turns 100 years young next season, and all the old gal wants is a one-of-a-kind gift from a fan to mark the occasion. Preferably one that looks good with pinstripes. "Something that encapsulates the 100 years of the ballpark, that's what we're looking for," said Alison Miller, the team's senior director of marketing. The Cubs are asking fans to design logo that will be used to commemorate Wrigley Field's 100th anniversary. Through Feb. 28, fans can visit the team's website and submit their creations.
