Michael O'Connor is a glass half-full kind of guy. His new sports bar, The Ogden, is set to open in a few weeks, just blocks east of United Center. The address will make it one of the closest bars to the arena, a prime stop for Bulls fans - that is, if there's a season. O'Connor, general manager at the bar and restaurant, and owner Joseph Panfil had thought their food-driven sports spot would be opening as the Bulls 2011-2012 season was picking up steam. Instead they're busy crossing their fingers that it will happen at all. "It's interesting, because this could potentially be...

No one, not even Justin Timberlake, can do it all.  Actually, strike that - JT seemingly does it all. He just doesn't do it all equally well. Beginning an hour late and delivering a 140-minute, entertaining but uneven show Sunday at United Center, the pop singer/musician/actor/comedian/entrepreneur/golfer covered Elvis Presley (“Heartbreak Hotel”), Michael Jackson (“Human Nature”) and Bell Biv DeVoe (“Poison”).  He danced with remarkable ease but also spent a significant amount of time playing piano and acoustic guitar, the latter a particular point of emphasis...

Blackhawks fans would be interested to learn three things about Paul Wilkins' life. One, the first time the native of Australia came to the United Center (and America), Patrick Kane scored his first NHL goal. Two, the 31-year-old has attended four Blackhawks games, and the Hawks won all four (including Sunday's Game 5 against Minnesota). Three, he's staying in Chicago until June 9. Last year during the Stanley Cup Final, Wilkins traveled 18 1/2 hours plus an eight-hour layover from Melbourne, and slept on the couches of kind Chicagoans for a chance to be a part of Chicago sports...

When Hawks fans return to the United Center for the training camp festival next month, they may notice something missing. The "Madhouse on Madison" sign inside the seating bowl was taken down after the Bulls and Hawks season ended, said Susan Goodenow, Bulls vice president of branding and communications. The Bulls and the Hawks jointly operate the United Center. It was a planned step as part of a larger initiative to improve the fan experience at the United Center, she said, similar to how the stadium boosted its WiFi capabilities, added four bars on the 300 level and installed...

Wednesday night's Bulls-Indiana Pacers game was both a rematch of a hard-fought first-round playoff series from last season and what some see as a preview of another collision in this season's playoffs. The players themselves seemed to treat the game as if the playoffs already were here. In a back-and-forth contest in which each team seemed to have a grip on the game at one point or another, the Pacers walked away with a well-deserved 95-90 win. If this indeed is a playoff preview, what exactly did we learn?

After both attending Wednesday's Kanye West show at United Center, we decided to do a written version of "Good or what?" Here's the email conversation that ensued. MP: Ernest, I feel like every show I attend lately has a Nickelodeon “GUTS”-style mountain and women in body stockings elevating the artist toward the sky. I mean, do something different, people.   OK, no. Wednesday's Kanye West show at United Center was unusual, strange, fun, unsettling, captivating and challenging all at once.

He was a Belieber, but he had been fooled. When a suburban man saw a Craigslist ad for tickets to Justin Bieber's July concert at the United Center, he decided to snap up four for $800, according to Cook County Criminal Court records. But he later learned the tickets were fake after visiting the United Center box office. The man who sold the forged tickets, police said, was Charles Patterson, a teenager from Garfield Ridge on the Southwest Side. Patterson, 19, was arrested Monday evening in...

These days, you might easily find yourself nodding your head before cheering on the Bulls at the United Center. The pregame groove is the handiwork of DJ Flipside. The Chicago native is actually the official music coordinator for the Bulls this season. RedEye chatted it up with him during Game 2 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals. "Official Music Coordinator" sounds like a pretty intense title. Yeah, This is the first year for this position so it's been fun so far. I actually work on the job with DJ Marquis and DJ Metro.

Two Blackhawks walk into a Chicago bar ... And order milk? MILK! That's right. Milk instead of a cold beer. That's what Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook were drinking when they made cameos in Tuesday night's episode of "Chicago Fire. " Why would they order milk? While we're waiting to hear from NBC, we came up with our own list of potential reasons: 1. There is a shortage of champagne after the Stanley Cup celebrations over the summer. 2. Milk has become the official drink at the United Center.
