Fans, players, coaches, even beer vendors were relieved when the NFL finally agreed to a new contract with its referees. So now the officiating can stop being part of the story, right? Eh, maybe not. We'll always be talking about the calls on the field. Which gave us an excuse to "officiate" Monday night's Bears game at Dallas.   PREGAME Bad call: At 6:36 p.m. CDT, LeBron James tweets, "Less than a hour til GameTime!! #CowboyNation. " Chicago fans already dislike you, dude.

Perhaps the most impressive thing about Danica Patrick's history-making win of the pole at the Daytona 500 is she did so while dealing with a new high-profile romance. Before Sunday's qualifying race, most headlines about the 30-year-old Roscoe, Ill. native revolved around her relationship with new boyfriend, fellow NASCAR driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr. If Patrick takes the checkered flag at Daytona, she'll be on the short list of athletes who have succeeded while in a much-buzzed-about coupling.

I guess that Tim Tebow thing didn't work out. A week after rumors of a Tiger Woods-Tebow pairing at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am surfaced, espn.com reported Monday that Woods instead will be paired with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. Sounds like a perfect match if you ask us. Here's why.   MINI-COMEBACK TONY ROMO: Had perhaps his best season since 2007 with 31 touchdowns and just 10 interceptions. TIGER WOODS: Won his first tourney in two years in December.

Here's the situation. You are a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader. (You're not, but just go with it.) Your boyfriend is a Buffalo Bills wide receiver. The two teams are playing each other Sunday. Whom do you cheer for? Kelsi Reich, the Cowboys cheerleader in question, was faced with that dilemma Sunday. For her, though, it just might have been a win-win. Her team won easily. And her boyfriend, David Nelson, caught a touchdown pass for the Bills. Hip, hip, hooray.   Oh yes Tony Romo Dallas quarterback Romo wasn't impressed with Nelson's touchdown.

So THAT'S what it looks like when Jay Cutler smiles. In fact, Monday's Bears win illustrated not just what his smiles look like but where they come from. For instance, when the offensive line gives Cutler time to throw, he smiles. And when best buddy Brandon Marshall gives him a jump ball target as large as Shaq in the post, he smiles. And when he flips a pass off his back foot to a sprinting Devin Hester for a touchdown, yes, the cantankerous quarterback is all smiles. Speaking of that beautiful touchdown, Hester smiles when he watches the replay and sees that he did indeed have...

I can sympathize with Tim Tebow. It's hard to be so good at your craft and get nothing but hate from all sides. (At least, I think that's why I get hate mail.) If he were playing for the Bears in place of the injured Jay Cutler and winning games, Chicago would be lining up to buy the guy drink or two. Wait, does Tebow drink? Or is that a sin? Unfortunately for the Bears, Tebow is not suiting up in the navy blue and orange. And that, my friends, is a problem. Tebow is on a miraculous run as the Broncos' quarterback.

Nick Lachey's having a baby -- or rather, his wife, Vanessa Lachey, is. The pair announced Monday via "Live! With Kelly" and Twitter that they're expecting their first child. But wait, what's this? Lachey's ex, Jessica Simpson, also is about to pop out her first tot. It seems like these two have done nothing but try to one-up each other since their split. We took a look at the evidence to see who's coming out on top -- face-off style. damoran@tribune.com | @redeyedana Rebounds Nick: Nick made the rounds with "Dancing With The Stars'" Cheryl Burke,...

"Monday Night Football" is a big deal for NFL players. And when the game is played less than 20 miles from your high school, you're bound to feel extra excitement. That was the case Monday for Bears defensive tackle Henry Melton. The native of Grapevine, Texas, spoke with RedEye about Bears fans at Cowboys Stadium and roughing up Tony Romo. Henry Melton: You could see all the Bears fans when we were coming in. It looked like a Bears tailgate out there. I was really surprised.
