Much has been made this year over the ongoing comparison between Michael Jordan and LeBron James. Some pundits make straight-up comparisons, while people like my friend T.R. Slyder of Lists That Actually Matter make counterarguments about why such comparisons are pointless. Specifically, T.R. argued that these comparisons are not simply foolish, but impossible - MJ and LeBron play in different eras and at different positions. So it's safe to say he definitely would NOT have approved of my buddy Ben telling me on Friday: "I've watched the Hawks all year, and you know who they remind me of?

Jonathan Toews and Corey Crawford were huge in the Blackhawks' win over the L.A. Kings in Game 1 at the United Center. Toews had plenty of praise for the goaltender's clutch saves, and Crawford says the rules are made to protect goalies.

Not so fast, all you pessimistic Blackhawks fans. There's still life.   A tip of the cap to those of you who maintained hope during this teeth-gnashing ride.   But whichever side you fall on, you'll surely be biting your nails come puck drop  Wednesday night during a pivotal, winner-take-all Game 7 against those pesky Detroit Red Wings.   Hopefully your heart can handle one more game. But it's understandable if it can't. This series has been filled with heart-stopping moments.

There's no question the Blackhawks' record-breaking start to this season feels straight out of Hollywood. So we've got our own awards to hand out to the NHL-leading squad, Oscar-style.   BEST PERFORMANCE IN A LEADING ROLE Patrick Kane Lots of great candidates here, but Kaner leads the team in goals and assists (nine and 14, respectively, entering Sunday) and has stayed out of the headlines off the ice. The perfect combination.   BEST PERFORMANCE IN A SUPPORTING ROLE The Hawks' opponents You need...

The 'Hawks aren't on tonight, but the Falcons are playing right now in Chicago. Two recently hatched Falcons and their territorial mother are currently perched atop 1130 S. Michigan Avenue, and the property - in conjunction with Chicago's Field Museum - is broadcasting the scene for the city's viewing pleasure. The predatory bird first flew in to the West Loop property in 2010, after construction displaced the habitat on a nearby building. Greg Martin, Vice President of D and K Properties, notes that was the same year the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup. “That year,...

You've been here before, Blackhawks fans. Wasn't even all that long ago! You watched your Hawks split a pair at home before a sometimes-ugly two-goal road loss in Game 3. Heck, that Detroit series got even worse before it got better. And yet your favorite hockey team showed great resolve, patience and skill to win three straight elimination games, including an overtime Game 7 that thankfully is NOT known in Chicago as The Steve Walkom Game. (We haven't forgotten.) So why are we collectively freaking out about a 2-1 deficit to the Bruins?

Headed to Friday's Blackhawks parade and rally? You're in luck! Reading this paper or e-version as you're literally on the way to the big celebration? Uh … you're too late. YOU GONNA DIE. I'm here to save you from certain embarrassment and possible death with helpful tips and strategies for maximizing your Blackhawks Victory Rally experience. Think of this as an old-school Nintendo Power Strategy Guide, except Mario and Luigi are replaced by Toews and Kane and inputting the Konami Code on Bryan Bickell will only make him angry.

Before we begin, I would just like to say thank you to, in no particular order, the NCAA tournament, the NFL offseason, the NBA (that's you, Bulls) and of course the Blackhawks for all they've done this winter and spring. And they've done a lot. They have essentially kept me distracted, kept me occupied and really prevented me from having to look at - oh my god, Chicago's two baseball teams. Cue that black and white horror movie scream by that one girl. Screech! In case you were wondering, because I kind of was, yes, it is that bad around here!

Thanks to Corey Crawford & Co., it's still hockey season in Chicago. The defending champs are now only three wins away from a return trip to the Stanley Cup Final, which means it's time for bandwagon fans to come out of the woodwork and buy Patrick Kane jerseys at Sports Authority. I'm the absolute wrong person to judge someone's Blackhawks loyalty. But I've never pretended to be a big supporter. I root for this team because it's positive for the city's economy and warm weather + tight women's Hawks shirts = cool.

To many fans' surprise and delight, the Blackhawks are riding a three-game winning streak while playing without Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews. The team has picked up their on-ice workload as a unit, but who picks up leadership duties when the captain is out?  PATRICK SHARP What have you done to expand your leadership role with Jonathan Toews out? Nothing. I continue doing the same things I've done every day that I've been here. Whether Jonny is in the lineup or not, I feel like we [have]

There's no arguing that the Blackhawks are the shining beacon of Chicago sports right now. Really, it's not even close. They have two Stanley Cups in four seasons and everything a franchise needs to be successful:  Players: Duh. Toews. Kane. Sharp. Crawford. Hossa. Keith. The list goes on. No first names necessary. Management/coach: A smart trade here, a re-signing there - it's all come up aces. And Coach Q and his mustache take a backseat to no one. Intangibles: All those overtimes in the 2013 playoffs, all those wins.

If you've ever owned a dog, you know the importance of finding the perfect name. Maybe you picked a family name, the name of a childhood dog or even the name of a city you love. Dog lovers Bridgid Nolan, 36, and Sue Naiden, 41, had a different source of inspiration: the Blackhawks. Nolan owns Project Rescue Chicago (1535 N. Dayton St., 312-623-0939), an agency that takes in homeless and abused dogs and finds them homes for adoption. She also runs Unleashed, a doggy daycare at the same location.
