(CNN) -- Devilish but divine - November 2 is National Deviled Eggs Day. Don't fear these wicked treats based on the name. Deviled eggs are the perfect snack to keep on hand during the holidays for your family or those friends that just love to drop in … any time they want. "Deviled" actually refers to a technique coined in the 1800s. Apparently, using hot spices was enough to classify anything with paprika or other notorious additions as "deviled. "Today, deviled eggs are made by hard-boiling eggs, and then peeling them, slicing lengthwise and popping out the yolks.

What's really going on at the Democratic National Convention? Matt Fruth, president of the Young Democrats of Illinois, is in Charlotte, N.C., as a delegate, and he's giving RedEye a behind-the-scenes peek at the event. The energy the speakers delivered Wednesday - to delegates and visitors alike - still was palpable Thursday morning. Cast members from "The Vampire Diaries" will be back in the Chicago area April 14 and 15 thanks to a new agreement that brings the "The Vampire Diaries" Fan Convention to Rosemont for the first time. Warner Bros. Consumer Products and Creation Entertainment this week signed a deal that allows Creation to produce a series of conventions for fans of the show. "TVD" Cast members and guest stars attending include: Paul Wesley (Stefan Salvatore, Sunday only) Kat Graham (Bonnie Bennett, Sunday only)
