"Neverland" could use a little fairy dust. Instead of soaring, the prequel to the beloved story of Peter Pan lands with a thud. The revisionist miniseries ( 8 p.m. Sunday and Monday, Syfy; 2 stars ) introduces Peter (Charlie Rowe) as an Oliver Twist-like leader of a band of London pickpockets and Jimmy Hook (Rhys Ifans), as their Fagin-like mentor. The Dickens rip-off opening segues into a sci-fi story as Jimmy, Peter and the Lost Boys are accidentally transported by a magical orb to Neverland, which turns out to be a planet at the four corners of the universe where no one shows...

Ian Ziering and Tara Reid are reuniting for "Sharknado 2: The Second One. " RedEye offers its suggestions for the movie's fish bait, or the actors in cameo roles. Syfy and production company The Asylum are casting for the cameos, so why not these folks? Derrick Rose, playing a repeatedly maimed man who pops up every 10 minutes with a new injury. WGN meteorologist Tom Skilling, playing the only meteorologist who forecasts a Sharknado, but no one believes him. Scarlett Johansson, as the voice of Sharkmantha, the talking shark.

Morgana's devious plots against King Arthur have been put on hold, at least temporarily. Syfy has decided to hold the final five episodes of "Merlin" until May Sweeps month, debuting "With All My Heart," the episode originally scheduled to air this week, at 9 p.m. CT May 3. The network will broadcast new episodes every Friday though to the two-part series finale, "The Diamond of the Day," airing May 24 and 31. In the last episode to air, "The...

As scientists and soldiers in the new Syfy series "Helix" race-crawl through air ducts and dark corridors to hunt down muck-spewing mutants, viewers will be reminded of other iconic science fiction productions. "Alien," "The Andromeda Strain," "The Thing" and other tales of people trapped in terror-filled isolation inform the 13-episode series, but series creator Cameron Porsandeh and executive producer Ronald D. Moore still manage to surprise and scare with their tale of paranoia at an Arctic research facility.

When I was a kid I watched the Disney "Treasure Island" every time it was on TV - Ahoy, ye mateys! I'd scream all over the house - so I was more than excited to see Syfy's "darker," updated version of the Robert Louis Stevenson classic. It's colorful, ambitious and looks fabulous, but I advise you to DVR the four-hour affair ( 6 p.m. May 5, Syfy; 2.5 stars ) and watch it over a couple of nights or you may lose interest. You'll likely lose interest any way; there is a reason Syfy is airing the entire mini-series in one Saturday night.

You know you wanted it. Now you can help name it. Syfy has announced that it will once again team with The Asylum to unleash a "Sharknado" sequel onto the world. The new film is set to premiere in 2014, the network announced Wednesday. Because the July 11 broadcast of "Sharknado" caused such a social media frenzy, Syfy also announced a Twitter contest to give "Sharknado 2" with an appropriate subtitle. Fans can tweet their subtitle suggestions to @SyfyMovies using #Sharknado.

Syfy giveth, and Syfy taketh away. “Warehouse 13” fans have something to cheer about: The hit series has been renewed for a fourth season. Syfy ordered 13 episodes to air in 2012, the show's cast and crew confirmed on Twitter Thursday. The renewal isn't surprising; it is Syfy's most successful series ever. “Under executive producer Jack Kenny's leadership, this superlative team of writers, cast, and crew continue to turn out a series that only gets better and better with every episode,” Syfy president of original content...

A new trailer for Syfy's upcoming thriller "Helix" shows the team of scientists who could save the world assembling in the Arctic. "What's it doing to him," Billy Campbell's Dr. Alan Farragut asks as he and others look over a victim. "It's changing him," another scientest answers. "Into what?" Into ... something ... really ... nasty. A virus is changing people into zombies, aliens or some other kind of supercharged killers. "Helix" could be something we've seen before, but it comes from "Battlestar Galactica" creator Ron Moore so I have to say...

It's election night Tuesday, so you're not going to find a whole lot of new programming on TV other than election coverage. But just like when you vote, you have choices. And if you live in Chicago, you have three city-related choices. "Chef Race: U.K. vs. U.S. " on BBC America has a new episode called "Pizza to Go" that was filmed in Springfield and Chicago. The teams begin tonight's challenge in the state capital where they cook pizza in mobile, wood-burning ovens. They end the challenge in Chicago.

Syfy has released the first 15 minutes of its new "Helix" online to give fans a taste of the thriller from "Battlestar Galactica" mastermind Ronald D. Moore. "Helix" tells the story of a team of scientists from the Centers for Disease Control investigating a possible outbreak at a research facility in the Arctic. When the team arrives, they quickly learn that some weird science has been going on. The series offers many familiar tropes, but manages to spin them into something completely horrifying and suspenseful.

Who knew Angel Coulby could sing? Well, Angel Coulby for one. "I've never had lessons or anything," the British actress said during an Oct. 15 phone interview. "I just always kind of, I don't know, somehow have been able to sing. " Coulby, probably known best in the U.S. for playing Guinevere on Syfy's "Merlin," sings for the first time onscreen in "Dancing on the Edge," a five-part miniseries debuting at 9 p.m. Oct. 19 on Starz. She plays Jessie, a driven young jazz singer in 1930s London who signs up with the...

“They're heee-re!” The fifth annual Chicago Ghost Conference will haunt the city for two days, Oct. 4 and 5, at the Irish American Heritage Center (4626 N. Knox). The conference will cover everything from ghost hunting to parapsychology, all topics that Ursula Bielski, founder and chief organizer of the Chicago Ghost Conference, feels right at home with--literally. “I grew up in a haunted house in Chicago,” said the North Center native, who experienced numerous encounters with ghosts during her childhood.

"Merlin" finally returns to the Syfy lineup Friday with the first of the final five episodes of the entire series. "With All My Heart" picks up where we left off--if you can remember where that is. Syfy pulled the show from the air in February just as things were heating up in Camelot. As " The Hollow Queen " aired, Morgana (Katie McGrath) had cast a spell making Gwen (Angel Coulby) her evil agent in Camelot, where the queen plotted to kill her husband, King Arthur (Bradley James)

Fans of "Stargate Universe" will see a familiar face when Syfy's new series "Defiance" airs in April; Brian J. Smith is set to guest star in an episode. Smith, who played Lt. Matthew Scott in "SGU," portrays NASA hero Gordon McClintock in the series set in the near future on an Earth transformed by the arrival of seven alien races that now co-exist with humans. McClintock is revived from an induced sleep after being presumed killed in a 2013 space station accident. He is shocked by the changes on Earth.

Syfy finally returns to seemingly abandoned sci-fi roots with "Defiance" ( 8 p.m. Monday, Syfy; 2 stars out of 4 ), but the new drama doesn't live up to the expectations set by its reportedly $100 million price tag.   To be fair, that money not only went into the TV series, but also an online video game that is set in the same world with some of the same characters. Syfy and its video gaming partner, Trion Worlds, are hailing "Defiance" as "the first-ever convergence of television and online gaming," but I'm going to focus on the show, since I won't be playing the game.

Video games are frequent bedfellows with TV shows and movies, but Syfy and Trion Worlds' new joint project, "Defiance," is a completely different kind of pop-culture beast. Instead of spinning off the sci-fi Western into a video game or vice-versa, the TV show and video game will be linked in an ongoing way so that characters and events in the series tie into those in Trion's third-person shooter. Nick Beliaeff, Trion Worlds senior vice president of development, calls it a "transmedia experience.
