There could be new grub to chomp on while watching the Bears next season at Soldier Field. The Chicago Park District board of commissioners on Wednesday will consider authorizing the district to enter into a 10-year food management contract with Aramark Sports and Entertainment Services LLC . The Philadelphia-based company beat out two other proposals evaluated by the Park District and the Bears to provide food and beverage services at...

The Chive, a national men's interest and pop culture-focused website based in Chicago, will launch a music festival in June. The site, which has amassed a cult-like following since its 2007 debut, will host its festival June 28th at Soldier Field. The lineup for Chive Fest will feature electronic act Empire Of the Sun and Atlanta rap dynamo 2 Chainz on the main stage. The festival will provide activities such as a life-sized game of Operation. Organizers are also planning "a spectacle that will actually be visible from space," according to a press release.

Could Chicago ever host the Super Bowl? While all eyes will be on New York/New Jersey this Sunday for the first open-air, cold weather Super Bowl, Chicagoans have been debating for years whether the Big Game could come to the Windy City. Short answer: It's complicated. Bears chairman George McCaskey, who is on the NFL's Super Bowl committee, talked to the Chicago Tribune last March about whether the city could host. "It will depend on what happens in New York/New Jersey in 2014.

EDM detractors may grumble, "All the artists sound the same; who cares who you hear at any particular time?" Fans, of course, realize the short-sightedness of that perspective (mostly), and will be eager to see the just-announced daily schedule for this summer's Spring Awakening music fest (June 13-15 at Soldier Field). See below for who's taking control of your feet on each day, and take note: Three-day passes are 75 percent sold out, but single-day tickets are on sale now. Soldier Field has shown admirable versatility in its history. Case in point: 1927: Gene Tunney beats Jack Dempsey before 104,000 boxing fans. 1944: 150,000 spectators attend a visit by President Franklin Roosevelt. 1954: Soldier Field plays host to ski jumping. 1956: The stadium hosts Grand National stock car races, the equivalent of Sprint Cup today. 1962: 116,000 turn out to hear evangelist Billy Graham. It's too soon to start playing "Chelsea Dagger" in the South Loop, but with all the excitement over this weekend's college hockey games, officials aren't ruling out the possibility of hosting a Blackhawks Winter Classic game at Soldier Field. After all, a guy can dream, right? "We'd love to have them," Soldier Field general manager Tim LeFevour said. "Obviously they've got a great relationship with Wrigley too. It's always our dream and the Blackhawks are such great partners with the city of Chicago.

Bears fans, prepare to be stunned. Again. You're about to lose a perk that made it cheap to travel to Soldier Field. As part of the fare hikes the CTA proposed last month to close its budget shortfall, the agency wants to increase the round-trip fare of the No. 128 Soldier Field Express from $2 to $5. Under the current system, Bears fans can pay $1 to take a bus from the Ogilvie Transportation Center and Union Station to Soldier Field. The $5 roundtrip to Soldier Field is more than the cost of a regular bus round-trip ride, which is $4 if the...

The Baltimore Ravens were safely hunkered down in the locker room, but Sunday's storm didn't stop one fan from taking the field for his team.  In a video posted to Facebook Sunday, a fan wearing a Terrell Suggs jersey rushes down from the north concourse, hops a railing and runs onto the field to loud cheers. Three security guards take the field to give chase, and he's taken out of bounds (and likely into custody) around the 50-yard line.  "HOLY SHIT," the post by Matt Marquardt on Facebook reads.

Building the first ice rink at Soldier Field isn't as simple as constructing an oval, sticking a hose in the middle and turning on the faucet on a cold winter day. "You can't make ice that fast," Kevin Gift, senior project manager for Ice Rink Events, said matter-of-factly. He should know. Gift and his crew have spent the past three weeks carefully building and maintaining the rink that is hosting the first hockey games in the stadium's 89-year history. Creating the ice that four college hockey teams will skate on Sunday is a painstaking...

The Carters are coming! The Carters are coming! For weeks rumors have circulated that married icons Beyonce and Jay-Z would headline a tour this summer, and the rumors have now been confirmed: You can see the mega-stars Thursday, July 24 at Soldier Field as part of the “On the Run” tour. The title is a play on the 2013 Jay-Z track “Part II: On the Run” that featured - wait for it - Beyonce. A promotional item for the tour features a photo of the couple in ski masks. Good thing there's no mistaking Mrs. Carter's eyes.

AUSTIN, Texas It's been 11 days since the Blackhawks invaded Soldier Field as a snowstorm hammered Chicago. That seemed more distant this weekend, when reps from the team and the NHL headed to South by Southwest to discuss the Stadium Series. We loved rolling in the snow outside the stadium, watching crews frantically clearing the ice with shovels and scrolling through Instagram pics of beer so cold it turned to slush. But how did the game come to be? And will the Hawks do it again?

Soldier Field in March may be just as brutal as a December football game. The Hawks on Friday will test the outdoor ice rink on the field before the Coors Light NHL Stadium Series matchup with Pittsburgh on Saturday. Playing in Chicago has turned some of the Blackhawks into football fans. "Being from Canada, I know we have the CFL," forward Bryan Bickell said. "It's tough to follow. I'm not a big fan of the CFL. Being in Chicago for as long as I have been, I'm a Bears fan definitely.

Chicago kicked off music fest season over the weekend with the Spring Awakening Music Festival at Soldier Field and headliners like Skrillex, Benny Benassi, Afrojack and more. Here are a few things we noticed at the self-proclaimed first all-dance music festival. Playing House of Pain and Chief Keef wins with EDM crowds Oliver Twizt and Diplo, respectively, (plus others) worked “Jump Around” and “I Don't Like” into their sets. Turns out, these are remarkably easy ways to get a crowd to go completely “hamster,” as Diplo tweeted, under a big white tent.

It was careless ignorance of the situation at hand. It wasn't even flawed reasoning - it was a lack of reasoning altogether. And although the memory of the positive result will trump the poor decision process as time marches on, we shouldn't forget what almost happened. Yes, Marc Trestman should've used his timeouts late in the fourth quarter to give the Bears a chance to win the game in regulation after a potential Baltimore touchdown. But I'm talking about the insane decision to start that game at noon.
