Dogs are supposedly man's best friends--unless the dog's name is Wilfred. And he is really a man in a dog costume. And he likes to mess with you. The latest teaser for Season 2 of FX's comedy "Wilfred" shows Ryan (Elijah Wood) getting advice from both a devilish and angelic version of his canine cohort Wilfred (Jason Gann). You'd think they'd be making opposite arguments--but not on this series. "Go on, Ryan, give 'em a lick," the Wilfreds tell Ryan as he brushes his teeth.

"First of all, I am not trying to steal business from Three Dots and a Dash [laughs]," said Mike Ryan, head bartender at Hotel Palomar's Sable Kitchen & Bar .  He's referring to his new pop-up tiki bar, which debuts this Friday and Saturday on Hotel Palomar's State Street patio.  " We've been doing tiki stuff at Sable for a while, probably three years now," Ryan said. "It's something that I've always been fascinated with and wanted to try my hand at. " The opening menu of $14 tiki cocktails includes three classic recipes - Eastern Sour, a bourbon-based...

Apparently you can teach audiences new tricks. FX's dark comedy "Wilfred" became an unlikely hit this summer with its blend of high concept and low-brow laughs. Based on the Australian show of the same name, the half-hour series tells the story of Ryan (Elijah Wood), a former lawyer in a deep depression who bonds with his neighbor's dog, Wilfred (Jason Gann). The odd thing is, everyone else sees Wilfred as a dog while Ryan sees a mouthy, manipulative Aussie in a shaggy dog suit.

Dahling, you don't look a day over 28. Ryan Gosling celebrates his 33rd birthday Tuesday, and while his friends and family are sure to get him some thoughtful gifts, rabid fans probably want to get in on the action too. (JK, only the ones who also are rabid stalkers.) To help them in their quest toward a restraining order, we've compiled a list of thoughtful presents to get the Gos, based on his movies. Blow-up doll Obvi. Longtime rumor has it that Gosling took his rubberized “Lars and the Real Girl” co-star home with him, but he's probably due for a new one by now. Nicotine patches ...

*** (out of four) Filmed on location in space (not really), “Gravity” takes cinema's immersive visual experience to ambitious places. This isn't an astronaut thriller that periodically cuts to nervous family members on the ground or flashback sequences about training. For 90 minutes, it's pretty much just first-timer Ryan (Sandra Bullock), veteran mission commander Matt (George Clooney) and a staggering long view of Earth that can be difficult to focus on when debris threatens to knock you spinning, spinning, spinning out into nothingness forever.

Zero stars (out of four) The examination of class in “Answers to Nothing” consists of Ryan (Dane Cook) briefly looking at a homeless person. The examination of race boils down to an African-American woman (Kali Hawk), who says she hates black people, deciding to look on the bright side. As for the discussion of infidelity, there isn't one. Ryan simply cheats on his wife Kate (Elizabeth Mitchell) - he's so sleazy he tells the romantic story of his grandparents' love while receiving oral sex from his mistress Tara (Aja...

Elijah Wood doesn't think he's much like Ryan, the character he plays on the FX comedy "Wilfred"--at least he hopes not. "Ryan's really struggling most of the time and is constantly questioning himself and the world around him and is not always in the most comfortable of places," he said Monday, "so hopefully none of that has rubbed off on me. " "Wilfred" officially begins its second season at 9 p.m. June 28, but at 9:30 p.m. Thursday FX will...

We're not saying America's passion for Ryan Gosling went into hibernation for the winter, but the Canadian hunk of many muscles and many more acting skills has been bursting back onto the scene lately like those tulips on Michigan Avenue. (We only hope the frost doesn't kill them -- or him.) On the heels of all the new developments, here's a timeline of our favorite moments that turned the Gosling from man into myth. damoran@tribune.com | @redeyedana December 2010 Hey, girl ... Two weeks after winning the Stanley Cup for the second time in four seasons, the Blackhawks are searching for future stars at their prospect camp. The training sessions run through Friday at Johnny's IceHouse West (2550 W. Madison St.) and are open to the public. RedEye sat down with 2013 draft picks and Illinois natives Ryan Hartman and Anthony Louis to talk about growing up in Chicago, their favorite baseball teams and how they plan to make it to the NHL. It might seem like the new "Star Wars" movies are far, far away, but 2015 is right around the corner. And casting rumors abound! First of all, if we see any Jar Jar Binks in the new "Star Wars" sequels, we're walking out of the theater immediately. But secondly, the Latino Review is reporting that Leonardo DiCaprio, Zac Efron and Ryan Gosling all have tried out for roles in the flick. Really? Them? Aside from being far too famous, we're not sure these guys have what it takes to fight the spawn of Jabba*.

You can't blame “Fruitvale Station” star Michael B. Jordan for being tempted. “I was actually thinking about calling up Michael Jordan's Steakhouse [today] and just getting dinner reservations,” the 26-year-old actor says. “Just to see what kind of table I would get.” In the Sundance Award-winning, real life-based drama opening Friday, Jordan - who's named after his dad, not the Bulls legend--continues to establish his name on his own. The film depicts the last 24 hours lived by Oscar Grant (Jordan)

Many hockey analysts are comparing the Blackhawks top 2013 draft pick, 18-year-old Ryan Hartman, to Blackhawks fan favorite Andrew Shaw. Of course, there's only one way to truly see how much these two have in common: with a RedEye faceoff. SIZE Shaw: 5-foot-11, 165 pounds Hartman: 5-foot-11, 185 pounds Edge: Hartman. The extra weight comes in handy when you're picking on players who are bigger than you.   INTERESTS Shaw: Loves shin pads.

Oh no! Ryan Dempster has come down with a bad case of Cubs disease. For those unfamiliar, it's a rare disease, very painful. It happens like this. A player becomes a Cub. They fall in love with the city, the fans, the adoration, playing at Wrigley Field, day baseball, nighttime shenanigans, daytime shenanigans, the bars and the clubs, whatever. So much so, they actually forget there is something out there, spoken about only in distant places like St. Louis and Atlanta, called wins and losses.

Jeah girl, it's like he's living in there now! Highly decorated Olympic swimmer and all-around village idiot Ryan Lochte's new show, "What Would Ryan Lochte Do?" premieres at 9 p.m. Sunday, which means only one thing: huge publicity blitz. Ryan talked to Cosmo about his turn-ons (independence) and turn-offs (smoking) when it comes to the ladies. We've got some ideas of our own about Lochte's likes and don't-likes, as Chief Keef would say. LIKES  -- Multiple piercings (where Mom can't see them)
