Rumblings that The Abbey , a standout gay bar from West Hollywood, might be opening a second location in Chicago haven't gotten past the "rumor" stage, as it turns out. "We're always on the lookout for a second location," said Widran Quesada, spokesman for The Abbey. "But there haven't been any decisions made. " Rumors began circling this summer that a spot at 3532 N. Halsted St. in Boystown was being eyed and ChicagoPride.com reported that Wendy Berger Shapiro, who runs a Chicago equities firm, was under contract to buy the location.

For weeks rumors have circulated that married icons Beyonce and Jay-Z would headline a tour this summer, and the rumors have now been confirmed: You can see the mega-stars Thursday, July 24 at Soldier Field as part of the “On the Run” tour. The title is a play on the 2013 Jay-Z track “Part II: On the Run” that featured - wait for it - Beyonce. A promotional item for the tour features a photo of the couple in ski masks. I was taken aback by a recent political ad from Texas Gov. Rick Perry, not just because the content is so vile and homophobic but because for years Perry has been dogged by rumors that he is gay. I don't mean "gay" in the playground pejorative sense, I mean that he's had to fend off talk that he's a closeted homosexual. These unsubstantiated rumors have followed Perry since 2004, when he had to deny having a homosexual affair in an interview with the Austin American-Statesman. More recently this summer, Politico ran a story on the subject, comparing the perpetuation of those rumors to the fringe movement...

Spoiler alert: Little-known, critically acclaimed early 1970s folk singer Rodriguez is not, contrary to popular belief, dead. Yet, as chronicled in the Sundance award-winning film “Searching for Sugar Man,” that's what many fans in early-'90s South Africa believed as Sixto Rodriguez's socially conscious folk songs became anthems of revolution for the anti-apartheid movement. Rodriguez, however, had no idea. He wasn't receiving any royalty checks and hadn't heard that this growing base of overseas fans believed rumors that their new...

**1/2 (out of four) Both as a solo artist and with Outkast, Big Boi has proven to be an intensely dedicated craftsman--an open-minded listener rooted in Southern funk but relentlessly interested in pushing its boundaries. Yet that rep is often forgotten, or at least more closely associated with the enigmatic Andre 3000. Big Boi's creativity is painfully obvious, however, on “Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors,” the second official solo album from Outkast's pimp half, which aspires for dynamic indie-rap but ends up wandering...

Adele lovers breathed a sigh of relief Tuesday when the Guardian announced she was expected to make a full recovery from vocal cord surgery (made slightly more awesome by the use of lasers). It's expected that she'll take one to two months to fully recover, which is like a century for someone who's makes your shower singing sound like Roz from "Monsters Inc. " Here's how we think she might pass the time. damoran@tribune.com  |  @redeyedana   45 percent -- Hopefully NOT texting with her ex, about whom "21" is written.

Like clockwork Monday, the Brett Favre rumors began. It happened when Philadelphia was in search of a backup quarterback this summer. It happened when Indianapolis lost Peyton Manning before the season began. It happened when Houston lost starter Matt Schaub a few weeks ago. And it happened when the Bears lost Jay Cutler. ESPN reported Monday that a "source" in the Favre camp said the 42-year-old quarterback would listen if the Bears called him. He shouldn't expect his phone to ring anytime soon.
