Adele lovers breathed a sigh of relief Tuesday when the Guardian announced she was expected to make a full recovery from vocal cord surgery (made slightly more awesome by the use of lasers). It's expected that she'll take one to two months to fully recover, which is like a century for someone who's makes your shower singing sound like Roz from "Monsters Inc. " Here's how we think she might pass the time. damoran@tribune.com  |  @redeyedana   45 percent -- Hopefully NOT texting with her ex, about whom "21" is written.

While filming  ABC 's supernatural thriller "The River," the actors had to pretend to be frightened of ghosts and other entities lurking around them when nothing was actually threatening them. That was not the case when they filmed at the former Waimano Training School and Hospital outside Pearl City on the island of Oahu. It's reportedly one of Hawaii's most haunted locations. "The place was haunted to the point that the security guard left screaming the first night we were there," star Leslie Hope told me recently.

**1/2 (out of four) Both as a solo artist and with Outkast, Big Boi has proven to be an intensely dedicated craftsman--an open-minded listener rooted in Southern funk but relentlessly interested in pushing its boundaries. Yet that rep is often forgotten, or at least more closely associated with the enigmatic Andre 3000. Big Boi's creativity is painfully obvious, however, on “Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors,” the second official solo album from Outkast's pimp half, which aspires for dynamic indie-rap but ends up wandering somewhere between the genres.

Rumblings that The Abbey , a standout gay bar from West Hollywood, might be opening a second location in Chicago haven't gotten past the "rumor" stage, as it turns out. "We're always on the lookout for a second location," said Widran Quesada, spokesman for The Abbey. "But there haven't been any decisions made. " Rumors began circling this summer that a spot at 3532 N. Halsted St. in Boystown was being eyed and ChicagoPride.com reported that Wendy Berger Shapiro, who runs a Chicago equities firm, was under contract to buy the location.

Like clockwork Monday, the Brett Favre rumors began. It happened when Philadelphia was in search of a backup quarterback this summer. It happened when Indianapolis lost Peyton Manning before the season began. It happened when Houston lost starter Matt Schaub a few weeks ago. And it happened when the Bears lost Jay Cutler. ESPN reported Monday that a "source" in the Favre camp said the 42-year-old quarterback would listen if the Bears called him. He shouldn't expect his phone to ring anytime soon.

It happened one day in July 2010. Two days actually. July 7 and 8. In those 48 hours, professional basketball changed in Chicago and Miami. Early July 7, Bulls fans still thought The Decision would mean Chitown. Jordan's throne. Rose's home. If LeBron wasn't coming, then certainly Dwyane Wade. Rumor had it Wade wanted to return to Chicago to be closer to his children. Rumor had it he was bringing his friends. That's the trouble with rumors. When we woke July 8, Wade was still a member of the Heat, and he'd convinced Chris Bosh to join him. When we woke July 9, James...

Bulls fans, we've gone through this before with Tracy McGrady, Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Chris Bosh and perhaps dozens of other big-name NBA free agents that were on Chicago's wish list only to head elsewhere. This time, it's different. Why? Because the Bulls actually are one of the better teams in the NBA and have players that other teams wouldn't mind having. That makes the rumor that the Bulls are one of the favorites to land Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard so tantalizing.

Andy Gould, one of the owners of Scofflaw, definitely has a sense of humor. A redacted press release posted on Scofflaw's blog Wednesday was a playful way to announce a new Logan Square bar that the team has in the works. But because details are scarce, it led to some speculation, including a rumor that the bar would be "hillbilly-" or "country-Western-" themed. "I can go on the record and say that we are not [building] a hillbilly line-dancing bar," Gould said. "Though I think it's kind of hilarious and kind of enjoy it. I don't know if [they]

Dahling, you don't look a day over 28. Ryan Gosling celebrates his 33rd birthday Tuesday, and while his friends and family are sure to get him some thoughtful gifts, rabid fans probably want to get in on the action too. (JK, only the ones who also are rabid stalkers.) To help them in their quest toward a restraining order, we've compiled a list of thoughtful presents to get the Gos, based on his movies. Blow-up doll Obvi. Longtime rumor has it that Gosling took his rubberized “Lars and the Real Girl” co-star home with him, but he's probably due...
