Two weeks ago, I went to a friend's dinner party on North Avenue and ended up spending the evening socializing with a particularly pretty gal pal of his. When the conversation shifted to her recent engagement, the 23-year-old bride-to-be was absolutely glowing as she recalled the details of how her guy had proposed. Maybe it's because I am a recording artist (or maybe I am just a closet commitment-phobe), but being tied down right now seems like a fate worse than death. From the Original Six Blackhawks to six Bulls championships to the 1985 Bears, sports are deeply rooted in Chicago's culture. The newest addition to the city's sports scene is the Chicago Sports Museum. The venue, on the seventh floor of Water Tower Place, and opened earlier this month in conjunction with Harry Caray's 7th Inning Stretch restaurant. I visited the 8,000-square-foot museum recently to test its interactive exhibits and rated them according to their level of cool (detailed below)

Janet Martin loves to add a dash of honey to your commute. The CTA customer service agent greets many Brown Line riders with a "honey" and asks them about their day. If they need help getting to the platform, she's always there with an extra hand. The riders at the Kedzie stop in Albany Park, where Martin works from 6-9:30 a.m., don't just like her. They adore her. In a post last week on everyblock.com , a Chicago neighborhood discussion board, riders heaped praise on Martin, who has worked at the Chicago, Western and Addison stops in the past few years.

**1/2 (out of four) Purity Ring's rise to indie prominence follows what is now a familiar narrative. Distant collaborators create tracks over email. Said handful of tracks get enormously hyped by eager bloggers. Collaborators embark on tour on the strength of those tracks. Within a year, the group is headlining the Pitchfork Festival side stage - all before ever releasing an actual album. It speaks to the odd climate of the contemporary music industry that the release of the group's debut, “Shrines,” serves almost as a retrospective.

Die hard White Sox fans with $25 grand to burn, you're in luck. An ebay listing that appears to have been created Friday lists a piece of South Side history: a 2005 World Series ring complete with a certificate of authenticity. The 14-carat-gold bling carries a $24,999 price tag that seller "goforthewin" claims was owned by a "multi time world series" player.
