When the wedding is called off, what happens to that shiny ring? We asked Jamie Miles, editor of theknot.com. 1. If the engagement ring is a gift from the groom and the bride calls it off, the bride should give back the ring. If the groom calls off the wedding, the bride could choose to give the ring back, keep it or sell it. 2. If the ring is a family heirloom, the ring should be returned to the family. 3. If the couple purchased the ring together, they should decide what they want to do with it. L.V. @lvivanco   Want more?

From the Original Six Blackhawks to six Bulls championships to the 1985 Bears, sports are deeply rooted in Chicago's culture. The newest addition to the city's sports scene is the Chicago Sports Museum. The venue, on the seventh floor of Water Tower Place, and opened earlier this month in conjunction with Harry Caray's 7th Inning Stretch restaurant. I visited the 8,000-square-foot museum recently to test its interactive exhibits and rated them according to their level of cool (detailed below)

It's one of the weirdest sports stories we've heard in a while: Homeless man breaks into White Sox general manager Kenny Williams' townhouse, drinks beer, eats pizza, defrosts a lobster and uses the computer before leaving dressed in Williams' clothes and wearing his 2005 White Sox World Series ring. Wayne L. Field III was arrested Monday and charged with residential burglary in connection the break-in that occurred over the weekend. Enough with that, now on to the fun stuff.

Chicago police officials are warning Hyde Park residents of burglars who forced their way into the back entrances of homes after ringing their front doorbells. In each of the incidents, which took place during daytime hours in East Hyde Park, a man described to police as 40 to 50 years old, black, 5'4" to 5'8", and 150-180 lbs, rang a doorbell or knocked on the front entrance of the home before running around to the back of the home. He then forced his way into a back entrance of each home, where he was able to steal property, and fled.

Two weeks ago, I went to a friend's dinner party on North Avenue and ended up spending the evening socializing with a particularly pretty gal pal of his. When the conversation shifted to her recent engagement, the 23-year-old bride-to-be was absolutely glowing as she recalled the details of how her guy had proposed. Maybe it's because I am a recording artist (or maybe I am just a closet commitment-phobe), but being tied down right now seems like a fate worse than death. However, even I had to swoon when she showed us her super pretty, totally modern-looking engagement...

Janet Martin loves to add a dash of honey to your commute. The CTA customer service agent greets many Brown Line riders with a "honey" and asks them about their day. If they need help getting to the platform, she's always there with an extra hand. The riders at the Kedzie stop in Albany Park, where Martin works from 6-9:30 a.m., don't just like her. They adore her. In a post last week on everyblock.com , a Chicago neighborhood discussion board, riders heaped praise on Martin, who has worked at the Chicago, Western and Addison stops in the past few years.

**1/2 (out of four) Purity Ring's rise to indie prominence follows what is now a familiar narrative. Distant collaborators create tracks over email. Said handful of tracks get enormously hyped by eager bloggers. Collaborators embark on tour on the strength of those tracks. Within a year, the group is headlining the Pitchfork Festival side stage - all before ever releasing an actual album. It speaks to the odd climate of the contemporary music industry that the release of the group's debut, “Shrines,” serves almost as a retrospective.

** (out of four) Part of the triumph of “Spring Breakers,” the current, unexpected holder of the title “best movie of the year so far,” was its lack of judgment. Its characters engaged in all kinds of over-the-top behavior, but writer-director Harmony Korine never seemed to scold, “Shame on these girls, on society and on you for watching!” With the shallow “The Bling Ring,” writer-director Sofia Coppola often sneers at how obnoxious her characters are, and her sarcasm makes the subjects too easy to dismiss.

Katie Chang makes a disclaimer: She's about to use a reference that reveals her youth. “I feel like I'm Hannah Montana,” says the 18-year-old Winnetka native and star of Sofia Coppola's “The Bling Ring,” opening Friday. “It feels like I'm living two different worlds. Especially when I was in school, too. One weekend I flew to L.A. with my mom and my best friend and we went to the MTV Movie Awards, and then on Monday I had a math test.” The recent New Trier grad and veteran of Wilmette Theatre's Actors Training Center has...

The heat isn't the only reason some Chicagoans defy the Fire Department by prying open local fire hydrants in the summer. For one West Garfield Park man, the reason was to get at the brass rings inside them, which can be worth $50 or more, according to officials. Corey M. Steele, 33, was arrested Tuesday morning in the 2600 block of West Maypole Avenue for taking at least nine brass rings from fire hydrants around the city this week. When he was arrested, Steele was standing near a fire hydrant with a mini sledge hammer, a...

Now that the Doctor's met his new companion, Clara Oswald (again), the duo head off in the TARDIS this weekend to the rings of the planet Akhaten in the latest episode of "Doctor Who. " "It's Clara's first outer-space adventure," Jenna-Louise Coleman, who plays Clara, told me of her favorite episode. "It's her first proper experience of what life is going to be like traveling with the Doctor.
