Chicago went five days without a homicide last week for the first time since April, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found. No homicides were logged between Oct. 21 and Saturday afternoon, RedEye determined. Chicago recorded no homicides from April 13 to April 19, according to RedEye data. Since Saturday evening, homicides have been logged in Albany Park, Auburn Gresham, Austin, Logan Square, the Near West Side, North Lawndale and West Englewood, according to police information.

Chicago today logged its 350th homicide of the year, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found. Two men were shot to death today in the 10500 block of South Lafayette Avenue in Roseland, the Tribune reported. Chicago reached 350 homicides in 2012 on Aug. 21 and in 2011 on Oct. 19, RedEye determined. Homicides are down 18 percent versus 2012 and up 3 percent versus 2011, according to RedEye data.

Chicago recorded three homicides by stabbing in four days this week, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found. A woman was found stabbed to death Wednesday in the 1300 block of West Thorndale Avenue in Edgewater, according to officials. A day earlier, a 24-year-old man was fatally stabbed in the 4200 block of North Damen Avenue in North Center, police said. On Sunday, a 19-year-old man was killed in the 7600 block of South Carpenter Street in Auburn Gresham, according to officials.

Nine of the 14 homicide victims killed in Chicago in the last week were in their 20s, according to a RedEye analysis of preliminary police and autopsy information. The victims were killed by gunshot wounds in Austin, Chatham, Englewood, Humboldt Park, the Near North Side, Riverdale, South Chicago and West Englewood, RedEye determined. Meanwhile, in Gage Park, a 20-year-old man was run over Sunday in the 5700 block of South St. Louis Avenue, police said. In the first half of this year, victims in their 20s represented a third of Chicago's 186 homicide victims.

Chicago on Monday reached 150 homicides for the year, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found. An 18-year-old woman was shot to death in the 5700 block of South Sangamon Street in Englewood, the Tribune reported. Chicago reached 150 homicides for the year on April 20, 2012; June 3, 2011 and May 18, 2010, according to RedEye data. Homicides are down year-to-date 33 percent versus 2012 and 8.5 percent versus 2011, RedEye determined.
