When my mom joined modern-day society, my world changed. It happened when I saw a familiar message pop up on Facebook. "Jen's mom" wants to be friends with you. Do you accept? That lady in the picture looked an awful lot like the lady who gave birth to me, but there was no way she knew what Facebook was. She didn't even know how to turn on a computer. With an immediacy of a wild mongoose, I clicked "no" and closed my screen, hoping the friend invite was just a glitch in the universe - a momentary black hole whose vortex happened to be in the center of my little apartment.

The Date Report reports: What is the best profile pic to use with your dating site profile to get maximum attention? Dating website Zoosk conducted a study to answer that question. Wendy's is handing out free Frostys in Chicago next week. Where: Union Station When: from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday while supplies last The chain recently expanded its value menu to include up to 18 different menu items, including the malted concoction. It will mark the rollout with the giveaway, which will include a game where participants can pick their favorite value combinations for a chance to become what the restaurant calls a "virtual spokesperson. February always has marked a special time for me on the calendar. Not because my mom celebrates her birthday this month. And no, I'm not talking about Valentine's Day, even though we all have to give Cupid props from time to time. February is Black History Month. When I was in college, I used to get really into it. One year I changed my Facebook profile picture to a different black leader every day. Why the excitement? It's something about history that gets me charged up. All history, really.

Have you heard? Young women are rocking it! A bevy of articles in 2011 described Millennial men stuck in extended adolescence, living in their parents' basements, passing time until their bands make it, developing PBR guts and PlayStation thumbs. And while the boys floundered, the Gen Y women flourished, graduating college, holding down stable jobs and having fantastic hair days. As Blue Ivy would say if she could talk: Girls run the world.
