Wadiyan dictator General Aladeen (Sacha Baron Cohen) has more patience than you'd expect--he won't launch a nuclear weapon until it has a pointy top--but that doesn't mean you have to be patient to see "The Dictator. " Head to AMC River East tonight for one of a few sneak previews offered for the comedy, which has several hilarious moments in a film I ultimately found pretty juvenile and disappointing . Anyway, you can judge for yourself at the 9 p.m. show (no, it's not free)

ArcLight Cinemas plans to open a Chicago location in the summer of 2014, the theatre's first location in the Midwest and second outside of California. The theatres include extra-wide-seats, black box theatres and reserved premium seating. Construction on the Chicago location, which is part of a nation-wide expansion, has begun in Lincoln Park at the Clyborn Retail Corridor, just south of Halsted Street.

NBC's two-night "Grimm" event this week presents one of star David Giuntoli's favorite fractured fairy tales, and co-star Russell Hornsby's least favorite acting partners. "I don't know how much I can give away," Giuntoli told me before the season began. "I'll just say Russell Hornsby did not like working with what he had to work with ['Danse Macabre']. It was something on set that was not human. " Now that we know more about the episode, I can only assume Giuntoli was talking about rats--or maybe a corpse.

This weekend the scene at Soldier Field won't be about da Bears but da bass, and the drops won't be coming in the form of fumbles or incomplete passes. Instead, fans of electronic dance music (EDM) will be the ones touching down in the stadium for Chicago's new Spring Awakening Festival. Spring Awakening bills itself as “Chicago's first all-dance music festival,” a statement of purpose that differentiates the fest from the city's other electronic-heavy fests like Lollapalooza's Perry's stage or North Coast Music Festival.

With January right around the corner, the best thing to plan is your hibernation, right? These five theaters aim to lure you out to all corners of the world - from a tiger's cage in Baghdad to an Indian customer service call center - and to all corners of your imagination, courtesy of a scantily clad "Dr. Who" parody, a retelling of "Macbeth" and a lover's twisted quest for revenge. The Mother[bleep]er with the Hat Jimmy Smits ("Sons of Anarchy," "Dexter," "The West Wing") makes his Chicago stage debut as a 12-step recovery program sponsor.
