After attending the infamous "Oops" Republican debate in Michigan, I've come to two conclusions: First, President Obama will win a second term, and second, I'm going to need a left eyebrow transplant after raising it so many times in what I call "confusiohorror. " As I watched from the media filing center in an auxiliary basketball court, I was struck by just how divorced the rhetoric espoused by that collection of losers and half-wits was from the reality of the challenges we face - those still screamed in the streets by the evicted Occupy movement.

RedEye is predicting heavy traffic on Lake Shore Drive Thursday night. President Obama will arrive at O'Hare International Airport at 5:50 p.m., according to NBC Chicago News . His helicopter will be landing near Montrose Harbor early Thursday afternoon, according to a newsletter from Ald. James Cappleman (46th), leading the city to close some sections of Lake Shore Drive. Obama is in town to attend two fundraising events - the first one starting at 5 p.m. on the Near North Side - to help raise money for U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin and the Democratic Senatorial...

President Obama poked fun at his Republican rivals at Saturday night's White House Correspondents' Dinner in Washington, but didn't spare his own Secret Service, secretary of state or even his past indulgence of exotic cuisine as he delivered remarks before a crowd of Hollywood stars, political power brokers and journalists. Jimmy Kimmel hosted the event and doled out his own skewerings, but kept things relatively low key in comparison with 2011 host Seth Meyers' roastings. Check out some of their best quips from the night.  Obama "Four years ago, I was locked in a brutal primary battle with Hillary Clinton.

Air Force One has barely landed, and the traffic headaches are already here.  President Obama is in town briefly Wednesday to attend a Democratic National Committee fundraiser at Chicago Cut Steakhouse, 300 N. LaSalle. Closures can be expected on Lake Shore Drive in the next few hours as the president makes his way from the airport. A WGN traffic reporter has these specifics via Facebook: "Closures starting to take place on 18th just south of Soldier Field," an update reads.

There is something about the lemming-like quality of the public discourse that renders presidential debates into these circular talking point showdowns in which not much is illuminated and nothing important challenged. Here following are some obvious questions about the great challenges of our times that one of those “undecided voters” or, you know, a professional journalist could or should have asked Mitt Romney or Barack Obama. • Governor Romney, do you believe that human activity is causing climate change?

MSNBC reports: President Obama is on cruise control toward his party's nomination to run for reelection, but Tim O'Boyle is hoping to capitalize on Obama's old cruise-mobile -- a 2005 Chrysler 300C . O'Boyle says he tried to sell the car on eBay a few years ago, but that pranksters ran the bidding up to $100 million before eBay shut down the auction. Get the full story at MSNBC.com .

What's really going on at the Democratic National Convention? Matt Fruth, president of the Young Democrats of Illinois, is in Charlotte, N.C., as a delegate, and he's giving RedEye a behind-the-scenes peek at the event. The energy the speakers delivered Wednesday - to delegates and visitors alike - still was palpable Thursday morning. We could have let former President Bill Clinton keep going all night with his amazingly rousing speech. I'm writing this before President Obama's big address, and while there is some disappointment that the speech was moved from a giant stadium to the smaller Time...

President Obama addressed the nation Tuesday to deliver his appeal for punishment of Syria. We asked four RedEye special contributors for their reactions to the speech. War and non-peace President Obama played the "dying children" card in his little powwow with the American people. The general response: "What's happening in Syria is terrible, but ... . " Americans are tired of getting involved. Most people appreciate that we're the world's sole superpower but don't like the responsibility that comes with the title.

The shooting death of Trayvon Martin has grabbed national headlines and renewed the conversation about race relations, gun laws and even how young men dress. It sparked a national furor that reached all the way to the White House, prompting President Obama last week to call for national soul-searching to discover how something so tragic could happen. Protests continued Monday, with rallies planned for major cities across the country. Here are other notable events since the incident occurred last month.

It's no secret Mayor Emanuel is known for his dirty mouth. President Obama zinged him in 2009 when he said "for Rahm every day is a swearing-in ceremony. " Even a fake news release on April Fool's Day from the mayor's office said that the only F-word Emanuel now uses is FOIA, which stands for Freedom of Information Act. Here's a look at five others who got busted for cursing on the job. President Obama told the "Today" show in 2010 that he visited the Gulf Coast so he knows "whose ass to kick" for the BP oil spill.

Is it just me, or are Latinos everywhere these days? Kidding! Kidding! Still, we're not very well understood as a group. So in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, here is my list of 10 things every non-Latino should know about Latinos. Latinos are the fastest-growing minority group in the country. It's crazy how true this is. Latinos made up half of the nation's growth in the first decade of the new millennium. I guess it's good that Latinos get a whole month to themselves then.

On Wednesday, President Obama was in town for a fundraiser, and I headed down to the Hilton Chicago on South Michigan to cover the Keystone protest. A couple things: 1) It's telling that despite the supposed scandals engulfing the president, I saw not one person with a sign that said anything about Benghazi, the IRS, the AP, or James Rosen. The conservative echo chamber is hard at work trying to get traction on any of these issues, but the President's poll numbers have not budged and outside of a hard core of Obama-haters, no one cares.

Drones are in the news thanks to a leaked Department of Justice memo outlining the legal reasoning behind the killing of American citizen and al-Qaeda propagandist Anwar Al-Awlaki. For those of us extremely unsettled by the Bush-Obama policy of extra-judicial assassination by unmanned aircraft, it's nice to at least see some major news organizations dusting off their mostly useless conventional wisdom-spewing megaphones to update the country on the government's ongoing secret assassination program via robot.

Finally, the government looks like it's seriously tackling immigration reform. Awesome! This whole "Save the Immigrants" thing has dragged on far too long. Still, maybe you're not an immigrant, or you've never eaten at a restaurant, and so you're asking: Why should I care about pathways to citizenship or DREAMers? (Not the John Lennon kind - the kind sitting across from you on the bus. Don't look!) I'll tell you why you should care: The debate is ruining your life. Here are five reasons immigration reform would make it all better.

I often fill this space up with defenses of President Obama's policies because for the most part, I agree with them or understand the line he's trying to walk whether in regards to taxes or war or health care or any other matter. In the case of the fiscal cliff deal and the impending need for congress to raise the debt ceiling, however, let's just say I hope the President knows what he's doing. I didn't have a problem with him caving a bit by raising the amount of money individuals have to make in...

Today I launch my official campaign to get Bruce Springsteen on the $1 Trillion coin that President Obama will have to have the Treasury mint and deposit at the Fed. Let me first say that while it is certainly a preposterous idea to mint a trillion dollar coin so that the government can pay its bills, the more preposterous idea is to keep playing games of chicken with the debt ceiling every two years and allowing the Jihadi wing of the Republican party...

Now that the 2012 election is over, Fox News is licking its wounds, and our radical, socialist, Islamic, ineffectual tyrant president has won a historic second term, I have one suggestion for Illinois Democrats: Start printing the "Draft Michelle Obama" T-shirts now.
