John Oliver's upcoming HBO comedy series has a name and a start date: "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver" will begin at 10 p.m. April 27. HBO announced Wednesday that the former "Daily Show" correspondent's half-hour series will present "a satirical look at the week in news, politics, and current events. " Oliver joined "The Daily Show" in 2006, but had the chance to prove his ability to lead a series when he filled in as anchor for two months when host Jon Stewart took time off to make a movie.

ABC will spread out its fall 2012 premieres from September to November, the network announced Thursday. The network will take advantage of its Sept. 23 Emmy broadcast to promote its lineup, most of which premieres that week, including "Dancing With the Stars," "Castle," "Modern Family" and "Revenge. " New series, such as "The Neighbors," "Last Resort" and "666 Park Avenue," premiere the following week or even later. "Nashville" debuts Oct. 10 while "Malibu Country" doesn't bow until Nov. 2. Doesn't seem to matter how long-in-the-tooth some CBS series get, they just ain't never going away. Cases in point, "Survivor," "48 Hours Mystery" and "60 Minutes," which launch their 25th, 26th and 45th seasons this fall. The network finally put "CSI: Miami" out of our misery, but "CSI" is back for its 13th season. New shows joining "America's most watched" network include the comedy "Partners" and dramas "Vegas," "Made in Jersey" and "Elementary. CBS announced its 2013-14 premiere dates Monday, which includes a special one-hour final season premiere of "How I Met Your Mother" and the debuts of five new series. The new comedy "Mom" premieres Sept. 23 followed by the freshman drama "Hostages. " New comedy "We Are Men" premieres a week later on Sept. 30. On Sept. 26, CBS will begin its new two-hour Thursday comedy block with the premieres of "The Big Bang Theory," "The Millers," "The Crazy Ones" and "Two and a Half Men. Chicago TV viewers get their first look at Fox's new Chicago filmed and set drama, "The Mob Doctor," on Sept. 17, the network announced Monday. HBO's "Game of Thrones" will return for its second season April 1, the network announced Friday. The 10-episode Season 2 will see the rise of the Imp (Emmy winner Peter Dinklage) as the Hand of the King and several new characters coming to Westeros. It will air in the 8 p.m. time period. HBO's new series "Girls" will premiere April 15, while the new comedy "Veep" will bow April 22. The film "Game Change" will debut March 10. Showtime also presented the premiere dates for its spring launches this week.
