Happy Thanksgiving! Time to pack those unflattering sweaters Great Aunt Mary gave you and head home to [insert random Midwest location here] for the holidays. And unless you've mastered the skills of teleportation, you will most likely be heading to O'Hare or Midway along with the rest of the city in the next several weeks. Good luck. You'll need it. On a recent flight, I found myself contemplating the actions of my fellow travelers. There was something askew - yet still familiar - about their behavior.

A man and woman from Lakeview were arrested Sunday night after attacking a cab driver and hijacking his taxi, county prosecutors said. Brian Mosansky, 23, and Sarah Solma, 22, both of the 4000 block of North Ashland Avenue, took a taxi from 15 W. RedEye asked readers on Facebook to help get a head start on an unofficial CTA passenger rulebook for newbies. Out of more than 150  comments, we picked out the top 20 recommended rules for riding the CTA. "Like" RedEye on Facebook to contribute to more CTA passenger rulebook projects.  " Let people OFF before entering ON! I thought that was common knowledge but come on people!" --Lauren Balek " Your backpack/purse doesn't need its own seat. If the bus is crowded, put it on your lap or on the floor.

Police officers met a CTA bus at the corner of 55th Street and Ashland Avenue after the driver asked them to escort a rowdy man off the bus Monday night. But that man turned into a witness moments later, when he directed officers to a man on the bus with a gun, county prosecutors said. That man was Darius Jones, 21, of the 9000 block of South Loomis Street, prosecutors said. He was arrested on multiple unlawful weapons possessions charges after officers found a gun inside a plastic bag full of videotapes on the floor of the bus, according to the police report.

Somewhere between hailing a taxi and bumming a ride from a friend, there's Sidecar. The ride-sharing app, which is based in San Francisco but has expanded to other cities including New York, Boston and L.A., arrived in the Chicago market about a month ago and now has more than 50 drivers in the city. The iPhone- and Android-compatible app connects passengers who need a ride with everyday people who have extra space in their car. "We're definitely not a taxi service," said Lisa Frame, the community manager for Sidecar Chicago.

Flying somewhere for the holidays? Travelers might want to hold off on wrapping their gifts until after they go through security, fly to their destination or ship them ahead of time. The Transportation Security Administration says wrapped gifts aren't prohibited,but TSA security officers may have to open them if they need to be inspected. If passengers arrive at Chicago's airports early enough, they can line up for complimentary gift-wrapping services through Friday for gifts brought to or bought at either airport.

An estimated 2.4 million passengers are expected to travel through Chicago's airports over the holidays. The holiday travel period runs from Dec. 21 through Jan. 2, according to the city's Department of Aviation. Already the winter storm was having an impact Thursday. More than 450 flights were canceled and others delayed at Chicago's airports due to the weather. The majority of Southwest flights scheduled for Thursday afternoon and night to and from Midway have been canceled, the airline said on its website.

What is expected to be the busiest day at Chicago's airports? Sunday Dec. 1. That's when 212,000 travelers will come through O'Hare and more than 80,000 passengers will travel through Midway. The Thanksgiving eight-day travel period begins Nov. 25 and ends Dec. 3.
