(CNN) -- Devilish but divine - November 2 is National Deviled Eggs Day. Don't fear these wicked treats based on the name. Deviled eggs are the perfect snack to keep on hand during the holidays for your family or those friends that just love to drop in … any time they want. "Deviled" actually refers to a technique coined in the 1800s. Apparently, using hot spices was enough to classify anything with paprika or other notorious additions as "deviled. "Today, deviled eggs are made by hard-boiling eggs, and then peeling them, slicing lengthwise and popping out the yolks.

“Project X” puts you right in the center of the action - in this case, what may be the biggest onscreen party of all time. Or to put it another way, says “Project X” co-star Jonathan Daniel Brown, the movie has an “anti-authoritarian” vibe similar to the Occupy movement, “just without the whole reforming government thing. And getting drunk and meeting girls.” The R-rated teen comedy, produced by “The Hangover” director Todd Phillips, stars Thomas Mann as Thomas, whose 17th birthday celebration...

If you haven't yet spotted the Stanley Cup in its tour around town, your next best option could be ordering the Stanley Cup-shaped pizza from Felice's Roman Style Pizza in Rogers Park.  The cup-shaped pizza was coined by a group of die-hard Blackhawks fan employees at Felice's, according to Sara Seibt, chief marketing officer for Loyola Limited, the student-run business enterprise that operates the pizzeria. In addition to being shaped like the Stanley Cup, toppings--green peppers, tomatoes and black olives--are arranged in the shape of the...

Square One 1400 S. Michigan Ave. 312-786-1750 Rating: 3 (out of four) Off to a good start The scene : This South Loop bar sits on a particularly busy stretch of Michigan Avenue, with fellow newcomers City Tavern, Waffles and Alain's all steps away. The bar is sleek without being too stuffy, and on the Sunday evening I visited, neighborhood couples soaking up the last hours of the weekend occupied the sidewalk seating outside and a few tables inside. The shtick: Enter through the door on Michigan Avenue and you'll be greeted by a set of soda...

The end of beach season and shortening days are a definite bummer, but the start of fall does have some particularly tasty advantages. For one, now that you've got a good excuse to ditch the sundresses and shorts in favor of some oh-so-concealing layers, you can indulge in all the fried food fun you avoided this summer. When the temperatures really start to drop, you'll be thankful to have a little extra insulation.

What is a bar-gument, you say? For as long as there have been watering holes, there have been disagreements. Some people prefer martinis with gin, some with vodka. Bar-guments is here to settle some longstanding bar conflicts once and for all. THIS WEEK: Is sherry cool to drink or something only Grandma orders?   Cool I gotta stick up for my misunderstood pal, sherry. I, too, used to think it was some overly sweet stuff that old people ordered at stuffy restaurants.

There are some things a home bartender should know how to do like a pro (don't worry, we're not talking about bottle juggling), and properly preparing garnishes is a good example. Garnishes add pizzazz to a drink's appearance, enhancing its flavor and aroma. In addition to cocktail napkins, straws and stirrers, you should try to have the following basics at your bar: lime wedges lemon wedges lemon twists orange slices pitted green olives marachino cherries Having the right garnishes lets your guests know you've gone the extra mile.
