When normal people have a layover in Vienna, they make the best of it by seeking out a flaky strudel or, if they're fancy, maybe some marzipan chocolates shaped like Mozart's violin. This girl, however, thinks to herself, "Ooh, I wonder if there's a McDonald's. " Not, however, because of visions of dancing Big Macs, but rather because I read a story on RedEye about how McDonald's recently introduced McNoodles, ONLY IN AUSTRIA! Win! Sure enough, there is a Euro-trendy renovated Mickey D's outside the arrivals gate, where, you guessed it, McNoodles are McAdvertised prominently.

The most riveting drama to come out of Wrigleyville this season--certainly more interesting than anything that's happened on the field--turned out to be a giant hoax. No, a girl did not in fact get stuck in the hideous giant noodle across the street from Wrigley Field, despite what you may have heard. That's because even if you tried, you couldn't get all the way inside said noodle. I know this because I went down and checked it out for myself. It all started just after midnight on Sunday on Twitter.

Chef Se Jin Yim, aka "Sunny," looked at more than 200 storefront locations and trekked to Japan for instruction on making ramen noodles to prepare for his first restaurant, Oiistar (1385 N. Milwaukee Ave.), scheduled to open by early September. The Wicker Park eatery's menu will feature international influences -- “Italian and French are my background, and I'm Korean,” said Yim, who previously worked as a chef for 15 years at a downtown hotel -- and approximately five ramen dishes.

Salatino's 626 S. Racine Ave. 312-226-9300 Rating: !!! (out of 4) Off to a good start The scene: A laid-back twist on its more-upscale predecessor Aldino's, Salatino's friendly servers don T-shirts, the walls are lined with framed black-and-white photos of Italian weddings and kitchen scenes, and the heavenly scent of red sauce wafts through the air like Grandma's spaghetti-and-gravy sunday supper. The food: Hearty pasta and Italian classics that really taste homemade.

So I'm not sure if this is “male gaze” or if I'm old now or if I'm just clutching my pearls but the new Vanessa Hudgens video teaser of her new song "$$$ex" (a song she collaborated on with a group called YLA) has me feeling some weird feelings, people. The video exudes nothing but pure, unbridled raging. It was obviously either filmed while on the set of--or heavily inspired by--Hudgens' recent film “Spring Breakers” (the pink masks in the video are worn by the characters in the film)

Cheap date: Andy's Thai Kitchen 946 W. Wellington Ave. 773-549-7821 Before head chef Andy Aroonrasameruang left it to open Andy's Thai Kitchen , Tac Quick Thai in Lakeview was one of my favorite, no-frills neighborhood gems. I liked taking first or second dates to the sparsely decorated restaurant tucked under the Sheridan Red Line station mostly because the food was flavorful and delicious, but also because any man who could win my heart would first have to stand up to the heat of the beloved som tum poo ma salad.
