NOV. 20 UPDATE: Though Circuit partner Mike Macharello has moved the club's weekly parties to other venues such as Evergreen (809 W. Evergreen Ave. ) and House (1675 N. Elston Ave.) since the closing, he told RedEye that he still has hope for Circuit in its Halsted Street location. “I have every intention to negotiate with the landlord to try and come to amicable terms that would be beneficial to all parties involved,” he wrote in an email. According to landlord Frank Friedman of Sterling Properties, Macharello is not the leaseholder on the property, though, and would be unable to renegotiate...

Two men were arrested Monday morning on charges of assaulting two men outside of The Mid, a nighclub on Halsted Street, county prosecutors said. One man was allegedly stabbed in the butt during the scuffle, leaving an inch-deep puncture wound. George Vitzileos, 23, and Thomas Vitzileos, 21, who are related and live together in Portage Park, were arrested early Monday morning on two counts of aggravated battery after both men were accused of starting a fight up the block from The Mid's 221 N. Halsted St. location according to court records.

Love it or hate it, Excalibur has been a fixture of River North's club scene since it opened in 1989. Twenty-four years is an eternity in nightlife time, and the club's owners decided this winter that it was time for a reboot. Come March 1, Excalibur and the adjacent club Vision will be retired, and night owls can shake it at a new hangout, Castle . After a six-month renovation, Castle will debut as an expansive club with five separate "environments," from a first-floor pub to a fifth-floor dance club with new audio-visual installations.

As anyone's who stood outside a club in snowy, rainy or windy Chicago weather can attest, waiting in line sucks. Frequent clubgoers and friends of the club promoter might have a free pass, but a new app called Own the Night hopes to extend the VIP treatment to regular clubgoers - provided they have a sufficient bank account.
