Patrick Kane's skills on the ice are recognized throughout the NHL. But he has some work to do when it comes to growing facial hair. That said, he's doing his best, along with Blackhawks teammates Bryan Bickell, Brandon Bollig and Niklas Hjalmarsson, to support Movember. The annual, facial hair-focused event aims to raise awareness and money to fight prostate and testicular cancer and mental health challenges. "I just saw Kaner's [mustache] now with all these lights on," teammate Patrick Sharp said at the Michigan Avenue magazine cover party at Carnivale this week.

Next time you spot a Blackhawks player, pinch them. Winning the Stanley Cup still doesn't feel quite real. "It's a dream," goaltender Corey Crawford said. "It's everything you worked hard for. " Since hoisting the Cup on Monday night, the team has been on a whirlwind tour like rock stars with stops at bars all over Chicago. Whereever they go, screaming fans chase them, champagne is sprayed and a flurry of photos and videos are quickly posted to social media. "It's been crazy really," Brandon Saad said.

Some Blackhawks sport bushy messes. Others have beards that barely cover their face. But all itched and scratched their way through interviews Tuesday in preparation for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Finals against the Boston Bruins. The Hawks have had 44 days to perfect their playoff beards. But the time of year where a select few NHL players hide their razors has almost reached its end. Are the Hawks excited to part ways with their woolly facial walls? Or will they mourn the loss?

Technically, Thursday's Game 4 at Detroit was not a "must-win" for the Blackhawks. Even if they lost, they'd still have a chance to win the series. However, being 3-1 would make them very uncomfortable, and thus they needed to play with a high degree of desperation. How'd they do? RedEye tracked the game on our desperation meter (Scale of 0 to 5. In this case, the more desperate the Hawks looked and played, the better.) FIRST PERIOD Before the game even started, Hawks coach Joel Quenneville shook up the lines.

Nick Leddy's voice is so soft that it's become a running joke among his Blackhawks teammates. "Whenever we hang out as a group, we always want to give him a microphone so we can hear him talk," said Hawks center Andrew Shaw, who's become good friends with Leddy. "He's a whisperer - a megaphone would work, too. " Saying Leddy is laid back is putting it mildly. Even one of the equipment managers calls him by the good-natured nickname "Mumbles. " It's not that he lacks personality or a sense of humor, but putting those traits on display publicly doesn't come naturally for the 22-year...

It's a natural comparison, at least on the surface. The 2013 Blackhawks finished with the most points in the NHL and head into the playoffs as serious Stanley Cup contenders just three years after winning hockey's ultimate prize. After locking the "core group" of stars into contract extensions and losing key role players from the 2010 team, it's taken two frustrating seasons for the Hawks to re-emerge as a powerhouse. They've done it, though, and the journey has brought a cast of new characters.
