For as much as we fans threaten to hold grudges in sports, our capacity for forgiveness is higher than we might realize. The NBA's been boarded up for four months, and we might say we're fed up with the constant bickering and that there's no way we'd embrace the league again. But really, the right conditions are all it takes for many of us to plug back in. Sure, it will take longer if you're, say, a Cleveland Cavaliers fan. MUCH longer. Whereas a team like the Bulls will win back fans more easily because they're a title contender and, well, Derrick Rose's talent is THAT mesmerizing.

Sam Mack played in the NBA for 10 seasons for five teams. But while his old teams aren't playing right now, Mack still is. He's a member of the American Basketball Association's Chicago Steam. Last season the Steam were the Midwest Regional ABA champs and Mack was an all-star. With the increasing likelihood that the Bulls won't play this year, the Steam are hoping basketball fans will turn their attention to the ABA. RedEye chatted with Mack about the ABA and the NBA lockout. What should NBA fans know about the ABA?

That's one less car Mark Cuban can buy on a whim. The billionaire owner of the Dallas Mavericks was hit with a sizable fine by the NBA on Wednesday for criticizing the referees on Twitter. He's not the first to get in trouble for tweeting, and we suspect he won't be the last.   $500K: Micky Arison The NBA was not pleased when the Miami Heat owner undermined the league's position in October 2011, during labor talks with players. Arison was responding to a fan who called the owners "greedy pigs.
