NBC released its midseason schedule for 2012, and missing from it are "Community" and "Prime Suspect. " Both ratings-starved but critically praised series have been pulled from the schedule. A spokesman from NBC has told me that "Prime Suspect" "is still under consideration but nothing definitive has been decided. " It's doubtful the show will be picked up for the rest of the season, despite the fact it's getting better each week. NBC will likely air the initial 13 episodes and then say good-bye.

CBS will add the new comedy “¡ROB!” to its Thursday night line-up at midseason, the network announced Monday. But what's with the strange punctuation, you ask? Rob Schneider stars as a lifelong bachelor who just married into a tight-knit Mexican-American family - and that's how add an excitement to a TV show title in Spanish. (It's not working, CBS. ¡I am not excited by this announcement!) “¡ROB!” premieres Jan. 12 and also stars Cheech Marin, Claudia Bassols, Diana Maria Riva, Eugenio Derbez and Lupe Ontiveros.

Fans of "Justified" have a solid date to return to Harlan County: Jan. 17. FX announced its mid-season schedule Monday, opening with the Season 3 premiere of the neo-Western "Justified" on Jan. 17. The animated spy comedy "Archer" will begin its third season two days later on Jan. 19, and will be paired with a new animated comedy called "Unsupervised. " "Justified" ended its second season with Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins) going back to his illegal ways by making a play for the Bennett clan's criminal enterprises, and thus putting him in conflict with his old buddy, U.S....

If you're one of those viewers who isn't all that gleeful about "Glee," tonight's episode of "Community" should hit all the right notes. "Regional Holiday Music," airing at 7 p.m. Dec. 8 on NBC, skewers Fox's musical comedy, mocking everything that's wrong with the show from its overdone mash-ups to its obsession with Regionals - whatever those are. And it is hilarious. Just like at McKinley High School, no one at Greendale Community College cares for the too-peppy glee club.

Giving out high fives, Chicago native and television star Danny Pudi received a deafening applause from fans at University of Illinois Chicago April 11 as he ran down aisle after aisle so attendees could smack his backside. Pudi showed students on UIC's campus that his quirky, Indian character Abed from NBC's hit show, " Community ," isn't so different in reality. In honor of Asian American Awareness Month at UIC, Pudi discussed his unique bloodline as a bi-racial Polish and Indian child, as well as his life growing up in...

By now fans of "Chicago Fire" know that NBC is creating a police-focused spinoff of the series called "Chicago PD. " Tune in to this Wednesday's episode of "Chicago Fire" to get a sneak peek of the new series. In "Let Her Go," debuting at 9 p.m. CT May 15, Jon Seda returns as Det. Two drunk, loud and usually obnoxious "families" are vying for viewers on the midseason TV schedule: The guidos of “Jersey Shore” and the Gallaghers of “Shameless.” Some might say comparing a reality show to a scripted drama is like comparing apples to oranges, but as you read above, there are similarities between these two shows. If you had to watch only one, which would it be? Oh, I have that answer. Nothing says winter like a cold wind chilling you to the bone, which is exactly what I felt as I typed “Jersey Shore.”...

Danny Pudi's "Community" character, Abed Nadir, may have fallen short in RedEye's fourth Best TV Character Tournament this week, but the Chicago native thought the championship matchup was perfectly cast. After all, Abed's obsession with all things pop culture stands at the center of a series that constantly makes clever pop culture references, including to zombies. The reference was to "Shaun of the Dead" and not AMC 's "The Waking Dead," but still. "That kind of fits into the 'Community' world," he said of Abed's battle with "TWD" redneck Daryl Dixon.

I look forward to January TV because one of my favorite shows, FX's "Justified," always premieres at the midseason. But the 2013 midseason schedule is special for another reason: "Cougar Town" begins its new life on TBS Jan. 8, the same night Season 4 of "Justified" begins. My DVR will be working hard this month. Several new and returning shows kick off this month, so here's a list of season, midseason and series premieres, movies and specials. As always, it's a work in progress; I'll keep adding to the list as I learn of more premieres.
