CBS will add the new comedy “¡ROB!” to its Thursday night line-up at midseason, the network announced Monday. But what's with the strange punctuation, you ask? Rob Schneider stars as a lifelong bachelor who just married into a tight-knit Mexican-American family - and that's how add an excitement to a TV show title in Spanish. (It's not working, CBS. ¡I am not excited by this announcement!) “¡ROB!” premieres Jan. 12 and also stars Cheech Marin, Claudia Bassols, Diana Maria Riva, Eugenio Derbez and Lupe Ontiveros.

It's time again to hand out midseason fantasy MVPs. Of course, Peyton Manning tops the list, but let the debate begin on the other choices. I can take it. Quarterback: Peyton Manning, Denver Peyton Manning is taking fantasy quarterback play to a whole new level. His start has been simply awesome: more than 2,900 passing yards already and 29 touchdowns in only half a season. He's putting up numbers that are unimaginable. In his 16th season, Manning seems to be getting better, and he could do even more in the second half of the year.

With Season 3 of "Portlandia" premiering Friday, I asked Fred Armisen to help me with my midseason TV preview by giving him the names of five new series. The Carrie Diaries 7 p.m. Jan. 14, CW What Fred said: That's Carrie Brownstein. It's her diaries. I know about this. It was a pilot; they just got her diaries and they turned it into a show.

I look forward to January TV because one of my favorite shows, FX's "Justified," always premieres at the midseason. But the 2013 midseason schedule is special for another reason: "Cougar Town" begins its new life on TBS Jan. 8, the same night Season 4 of "Justified" begins. My DVR will be working hard this month. Several new and returning shows kick off this month, so here's a list of season, midseason and series premieres, movies and specials. As always, it's a work in progress; I'll keep adding to the list as I learn of more premieres.

With eight weeks down in the NFL, it's time to recognize midseason MVPs at four positions. These awards are based on overall performance as well as value based on where they were drafted in your average league. Peyton Manning, QB The Denver quarterback has been amazing. He hasn't missed a beat since coming returning from neck surgery and a year away from football, averaging 301.9 yards a game and throwing for 17 touchdowns.

NBC released its midseason schedule for 2012, and missing from it are "Community" and "Prime Suspect. " Both ratings-starved but critically praised series have been pulled from the schedule. A spokesman from NBC has told me that "Prime Suspect" "is still under consideration but nothing definitive has been decided. " It's doubtful the show will be picked up for the rest of the season, despite the fact it's getting better each week. NBC will likely air the initial 13 episodes and then say good-bye.
