Last October seven artists, musicians and filmmakers from around the world, including several from Chicago, ventured out into the desolate beauty of the Icelandic countryside with the goal of creating a series of short films. The footage and field recordings they gathered have been compiled into a feature-length documentary titled "Outliers Vol. I: Iceland," which will be screened at Lincoln Hall in Lincoln Park on Tuesday night along with performances from several musicians who contributed to the film's score.

Last year, Bruce Finkelman (Empty Bottle) and Craig Golden (Longman & Eagle, Space) teamed up to reopen Thalia Hall, a Chicago landmark originally opened in 1892 at the corner of 18th and Allport streets to serve as a community arts center for Pilsen. Dusek's, the venue's restaurant, and Punch House, the basement bar, quickly gained citywide attention. Now, the owners are adding a live music destination to a South Side largely lacking in the packed music venues and nightclubs that thrived in the '50s and '60s.

The unofficial theme of Chromeo's sold out show Monday at Lincoln Hall was clearly, "Express yourself!" Fans danced and clapped without pause or reservation, and an (overly) affectionate couple in the front row couldn't keep their hands off of each other. Yet while the place was packed, the vibe was more intimate than the band expected. "We haven't played a room this small in a while," singer/guitarist Dave 1 (real name: David Macklovitch) said between songs. "It's crazy; I can see all of you!"

UPDATE: POLLS ARE NOW CLOSED. CHECK BACK WEDNESDAY TO FIND OUT WHO MADE THE ROCK 'N' VOTE TOP 4 AND WILL PLAY MAY 22 AT LINCOLN HALL. That means that less than 5 percent of the acts earned a spot in the Top 10. Now, these rising artists need...

The first time Temples visited Chicago in November 2013, the city's red-meat-and-potatoes reputation made the British psych-rock crew a bit anxious.   “We thought it would be really hard to find food without meat in it,” said singer/guitarist/vegetarian James Bagshaw. “I don't know why we thought that. There was actually really great vegan and vegetarian food.”   It's a good thing, too. Between Temples' April 26 concert at Lincoln Hall and its scheduled appearance at this summer's Lollapalooza, the band, which has been championed by everyone from Oasis' Noel Gallagher to...
