Superspy Sterling Archer loves the booze, so it's little wonder that he's thrilled about his upgraded kitchen. In the latest promo for the upcoming fifth season of "Archer," he discovers the secret bar hidden in his oven. "This is the best kitchen ever," Archer says breathlessly. No doubt for him it is. Remember the Season 3 DVD extra "How to Archer" when he suggested that since he's "not a servant or a woman" he has no idea how to cook? What else is he going to do with that oven?

Review: Fulton Market Kitchen 311 N. Sangamon St. 312-733-6900 Rating: 3 (out of four) Off to a good start A mix of art galleries and big-name restaurants mixed in with meatpacking plants is what makes the West Loop a destination. After living in the neighborhood for nearly a decade, Daniel Alonso (of Wicker Park tapas bar Black Bull) partnered up with former Victor Hotel owner Relu Stan to turn that space into his own mixed-media creation. Victor Hotel was a club, not a hotel, and Fulton Market Kitchen is on Sangamon Street, not Fulton, but stay with me here.

"Kitchen's closed. " Whether prompted by insomnia or intoxication, if you're out past midnight and hungry, hearing those two words from your server are about as damning as it gets. Luckily, plenty of bars and restaurants are offering either a condensed version of their main menu or the whole shebang well past usual closing times. Here's where you can snack on sushi, curry popcorn and other nibbles to make the dead of night a little more delicious. The Purple Pig 500 N. Michigan Ave. 312-464-1744 You won't get any abbreviated options at this Mag Mile wine bar, which serves its full...

Three Illinois chefs will compete in the new season of Fox's "Hell's Kitchen. " From the looks of a super-teaser for the season, maybe I should say "will try to survive" the season. When "Hell's Kitchen" returns at 7 p.m. March 13 on Fox, Illinois chefs Jason Zepaltas, Scott Commings and Richard Mancini will be among the 20 chefs vying to outlast Chef Gordon Ramsey's verbal assaults and, if the teaser is an indication, physical assaults from each other. Here are the competitors, who will be split into the following teams: The Blue Team (Men)

Lunch has always been my favorite part of the work day. I know that isn't a very controversial stand to take - I might as well declare that the Chicago winters get pretty bad or Hugh Jackman should have taken his shirt off more in "Real Steel" - but, nonetheless, I stand by it. Lunch is awesome. Lunch is the breath that breaks up my day. It's a chance to escape my desk and clear my head. Just when my eyeballs feel like they're going to melt from overexposure to spreadsheets and Google Docs, in swoops my lunch break, like Batman after a call from Commissioner Gordon, here to save the day. I grab my...

From the North Side to the South Side, remnants of haunted Chicago scatter across the city. Everything from serial killers to devastating fires have left their indelible mark and continue to haunt some of the Chicago's most frequented locations. But what if your ghost story took place right in your own living room? As these three Chicagoans told us, everyday life gets quite spooky when you're living with a ghost. Not so alone When Grace Faoro moved into her Lakeview apartment in the spring of 2008, she found the quaint...

Takito Kitchen 2013 W. Division St.  773-687-9620 Rating:  !!!! (out of four)  Already hot Since opening about a month ago in the former Sabor Saveur space in Ukrainian Village, Takito Kitchen has tried to shine in an already taco-saturated neighborhood. Setting the casual-but-stylish restaurant apart is chef David Dworshak, formerly of Carnivale, and an intriguing cocktail list of tequila- and rum-based concoctions that are as colorful as the spray-painted mural on the rear wall.

Lakeview's Real Kitchen created a culinary nightmare to-go for Halloween. In a tongue-in-cheek riff on the meticulously crafted menu at Grant Achatz's Alinea, Real Kitchen claims in a video posted Thursday to have its own enormously elaborate multiple course menu. "In the Chicago tradition this Halloween, we at Real Kitchen are dressing up as Alinea," the parody video's narration says. "We'll make sure your dinner will be like no other, with a weekly change up of 45-course meal packages.

At some Chicago restaurants, it's often love at first bite - among the workers, anyway. Timothy O'Tooles on the Gold Coast boasts four employee couples and two married couples. An assistant general manager and a former waitress are expected to marry in September, according to the restaurant's publicist. MK, a Near North Side restaurant, has served as matchmaker for 12 employees who met there and later married. One couple - a sous chef and office manager - are currently engaged, a publicist for the restaurant said.

Cheap date: Andy's Thai Kitchen 946 W. Wellington Ave. 773-549-7821 Before head chef Andy Aroonrasameruang left it to open Andy's Thai Kitchen , Tac Quick Thai in Lakeview was one of my favorite, no-frills neighborhood gems. I liked taking first or second dates to the sparsely decorated restaurant tucked under the Sheridan Red Line station mostly because the food was flavorful and delicious, but also because any man who could win my heart would first have to stand up to the heat of the beloved som tum poo ma salad.

From this summer's vegan menu at Grant Achatz's restaurant Next to the buzz about plant-based diets, veganism is definitely having a moment. “A few years ago, people said, 'Oh, vegan? What does that mean?” said Don Clements, who opened all-vegan BYOB cafe Kitchen 17 (613 W. Briar Place 773-661-1757) in East Lakeview in early May. While vegetarians eat meat-free, vegans also forgo animal products including dairy, eggs and honey. Clements went vegan for a combination of health, animal rights and environmental reasons.

Enoch Simpson may have created a monster. Since the days when his homemade doughnuts became a surprise brunch sensation at Nightwood, gourmet twists on the classic breakfast pastry have swept the city, threatening to make the trend go stale. With the upcoming debut of his first bakery and restaurant, Endgrain in Roscoe Village, Chicago's original mad scientist of high-blood-sugar breakfasts is finally ready to rejoin the game he's been at since the beginning. At Endgrain, Simpson will unveil his latest creations alongside the originals that...

After a lengthy battle with the city over regulation and permit issues, the Logan Square Kitchen has announced that its business is no longer economically viable and that it will permanently close its doors on June 28. The Logan Square Kitchen is a shared-use kitchen, which currently hosts about 20 active businesses, all of whom will need to find a new kitchen in order to keep their businesses operating. Ed Kraft, owner of The Baked Escape , said he is concerned that he may not be able to find a new home for his baked goods operation, or that his business may suffer from a move to a...
