Before you start imagining lava lamps and terrible shag carpeting, allow partner Johnny Swet to clarify where the '70s inspiration for forthcoming Jimmy in The James Chicago hotel came from. "We're not talking hippies. We're talking '70s chic like Halston and movies like 'Casino'," Swet said. "It's a chic, classic look and with that came an experimentation with cocktails. " So, imagine less of "That '70s Show" and more bronze, wood and dim lighting - a nd classic cocktails.

We're still holding our breath for "Gangster's Paradise. "  On the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon Monday, the late night host debuted another single from an unlikely rapper - NBC Nightly News host Brian Williams. After garnering more than 8 million views of his rendition of "Rappers Delight," Fallon's team spliced together footage of Williams to create a spot-on cover of Snoop Dog's "Gin and Juice. "  Props to the video editor on this one. It's got to take a sharp ear to pick out audio that makes Williams sound like he's belting out lyrics that include "hoes,"...

Keep your eyes on Tom Hardy. Before the Brit starred in films like "Inception" or this year's "Warrior," he scorched the small screen as thuggish Freddie Jackson in the 2009 British miniseries "The Take" ( 8 p.m. Friday, Encore; 3.5 stars ). His unblinking, brutish presence has turned a rather traditional and ultra-violent crime drama into something exceedingly watchable and suspenseful. Encore is presenting the miniseries as an original for the network, premiering each of the four parts at 8 p.m. Dec. 2, 9, 16 and 23. As the story opens, thuggish Freddie is picked up...

Now this in my kind of hippity-hop. On Tuesday's "The Tonight Show," Jimmy Fallon and Anne Hathaway performed Broadway versions of famous rap songs. They gave a show-tune makeover to Snoop Dogg's "Gin and Juice," 50 Cent's "In Da Club" and Kendrick Lamar's "Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe. " At the end of that last song, Hathaway offered a special message to all those "dirty, Hatha-hating, bitch-ass" folks. Want more? Discuss this article and others on Show Patrol's Facebook page .

Mini-review: Burke's Bacon Bar 610 N. Rush St. 312-660-7200 Rating:  !! (out of 4) Give it some time Chef David Burke (of Primehouse plus many NYC-based restaurants) is the P.T. Barnum of chefs. As evidenced by his current survival on "Top Chef Masters," Burke is a great cook, but he's an even better storyteller. The first time I ever met him, he asked if he could see my hand. I was a little confused; I hardly knew the guy, but he looked like he was about to propose.

Emmy host Jimmy Kimmel took shots at Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney and "Mad Men" star Jon Hamm's Emmy losing streak, among others, during his four-minute opening monologue. Here are some of his best jokes. "'Downton Abbey' is an amazing show ... It really gives you a sense of what it must have been like to grow up in Mitt Romney's house. " "Being a Republican in Hollywood is like being a Chick-fil-A sandwich on the snack table at 'Glee.'" "Television is an American institution, yet one out of every five actors...

Matt Damon and Jimmy Kimmel just can't leave each other alone. The "Jimmy Kimmel Live" host repeatedly has "run out of time" before Damon has had the chance to appear on the show. The running gag escalated in January when Damon took Kimmel hostage for full episode and hosted "Live. " On Monday night, Kimmel turned the tables again, sending his sidekick/parking lot security guard Guillermo Rodriguez to interrupt Damon's interview promoting his new sci-fi film "Elysium," which opens Friday.

Jimmy Fallon scored another hit from "The Tonight Show" with a music video showing NBC News' Brian Williams and Lester Holt rapping the Sugarhill Gang's "Rapper's Delight. " Holt, a former Chicago news anchor, and Williams didn't perform the rap live, but Fallon's team did an amazing job taking snippets from news reports to make the video. It follows Fallon's dance tribute with Will Smith, "Evolution of Hip-Hop Dancing," and his Ragtime Gals barbershop quartet performing R. Kelly's "Ignition (Remix)

After heating things up as a member of the "Hottest Geek Guys of Winter 2014" , NFL pro (and former Chicago Bear) Israel Idonije cooled off by taking part in the Chicago Polar Plunge last weekend. This came on the heels of the announcement that his comic book company Athleta Comics would be going through a slight name change, to Athlitacomics, LLC . He also released a sneak peek at the cover to his company's first comic, "The Protectors" , created by Idonije and written by Ron Marz with art by Bart Sears . Add to that his...

Swimmy, er, Jimmy Fallon's plunge into the lake is about to break some records.  More than 3,000 people have now signed up for this year's Polar Plunge -- which benefits Special Olympics Chicago -- splashing way past last year's number of 2,300. According to Special Olympics Chicago president Jen Kramer, donations have spiked too, and with a little social media support, she believes this year's event will raise more than $1,000,000.  "We've seen a massive uptick in people who want to participate and donate," she said.

Jimmy Butler's hairdo had been an interesting discussion topic among fans. The Bulls guard started growing his hair out a year and half ago, and what began as a respectable high-top fade morphed into a style that was, well, hard to describe, but we know Sideshow Bob would've been proud. But for a guy who wears cowboy boots almost every day, his hairstyle was reflective of someone who marches to the beat of his own drum. And it was only a matter of time before it reached cult status.

Kanye West faced Jimmy Kimmel on Wednesday and he was, um, genius? The rapper appeared on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" to address the feud he and the late-night host have been embroiled in ever since West went on Twitter last month to criticize Kimmel after the latter spoofed a recent interview with BBC Radio 1 in which West called himself the biggest rock star in the world. As you can see in the clip above, West still has a high opinion of himself. "I'm a creative genius," he told Kimmel, "and there's no other way to word it. I know you're...
