Jay Cutler spoke about a wide range of topics Wednesday, but what did his words really mean? Let's translate them. ABOUT REHAB, JAY SAID … "It could be I'm done for the season. I just have to be smart about it and realize that there is a long-term picture here. " WHAT IT MEANS "Yeah, I'm totally done. Toast. Stick a fork in me. Even if we make it to the Super Bowl, I'm Audi 5000. "   ABOUT HIS RETURN, JAY SAID ... "I don't want to put a real number on it because I just don't know.

This could only happen in the Windy City. The one awful series in this legendary NBA first round involved your Chicago Bulls. Fortunately, the Blackhawks are starting to look like favorites to repeat as Stanley Cup champions. And we're approaching the stage of the playoffs when beards transition from quirky to downright creepy. -Patrick Kane scored two goals Friday night in a Game 1 win against the Minnesota Wild. He's also sporting his annual “Business in the front, party in the back” spring hairstyle.

Jay Cutler and Kristin Cavallari's very long engagement (including the breakup, then re-engagement) looks like it will have its happily-ever-after soon. According to eonline.com, the Chicago power couple already have a date set, though they're keeping the details quiet. Cavallari talked to Giuliana Rancic for an E! special that will air March 10. In the same interview, the former reality star said the second time the Bears quarterback "proposed," he sent her the ring in the mail.

The movie "Draft Day" hits theaters Friday. It's about how Sonny Weaver Jr. (Kevin Costner), the fictional general manager of the Cleveland Browns, turns around the franchise. But really, it could easily be about the Bears. How do we know? Because these quotes we pulled from trailers are all too transparent (cough, cough).   "The best thing for the team this season is me. " In the movie: Brian Drew (Tom Welling) pleads his case as the Browns' incumbent quarterback.

Jay Cutler, welcome to fatherhood. I'd like to tell you it's all teddy bears and precious smiles and that fresh-baby smell, but I'd be lying. And I don't want to do that to you, Jay. You see, we have something in common, you and I. We are now both fathers--and we both started down this road at the ripe old age of 29. My kids are past the diapers and pacifiers stages, though, which puts me in the unique position of being your fatherhood mentor....

It's never too early to start thinking about the NFL playoffs. In fact, now is the perfect time to start thinking about the NFL playoffs. With struggling San Diego in town to face the Bears and just six games remaining after this week, Sunday's matchup at Soldier Field was what you might call a huge game. By the time the Bears took the field, NFC North rival Detroit had already won to move a game ahead of the Bears. The Chargers had lost four straight games and had watched as two AFC West teams won before kickoff.

Reading what Joakim Noah says about Luol Deng, you want to wrap your arm around the Bulls center and tell him it's gonna be OK. On Wednesday, the Bulls will face Deng for the first time since he was traded to Cleveland earlier this month. "I love Luol," Noah said. "He's my brother. But when that ball goes up, he's not going to be my brother. " OK, so Noah won't go easy on his former teammate on the court. But his friendship with Deng has earned a spot among the top Chicago sports bromances.

Welp, the Bears paid Jay Cutler. Paid him like they landed on Boardwalk with three hotels and a Risk ten-army on top. (You make some rules changes to get through Chicago winters.) And whether or not you agree they overpaid for No. 6, all Bears fans can agree the defense has to get fixed real quick-like. With the 14th pick in the upcoming draft, the Bears have a shot at a great playmaker on defense, such as Michigan State cornerback Darqueze Dennard, Florida defensive end Dominique Easley, or even Alabama safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix.

The Bears' record doesn't lie. When you finish 8-8, some of the stats are going to look outstanding and some are going to be so ugly you might vomit all over your screen. (Please don't, if you can help it.) Maybe the best advice RedEye can give Bears fans is to close your eyes and repeat "only seven months until training camp" in your head. Chicago Tribune contributed to this report.   77.18 percent When the Bears beat Pittsburgh to improve to 3-0, they had a 77.18 percent chance of making the playoffs, according to...

It could have been Chicago's dream come true: Winning a division title at the expense of its hated rival and earning a home playoff game next week.  Yet the city got its worst nightmare: the Packers celebrating yet another huge victory in Chicago, and the Bears going home for the winter.  The soul crusher came with 38 seconds remaining. Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers, in his first game back from a broken collarbone, found Randall Cobb for a 48-yard touchdown pass on fourth-and-8.

The nightmare scenario is upon us. Aaron Rodgers returns Sunday for the Packers, and the Bears will not be able to stop him. That's because the Bears can't stop anybody. My favorite reaction from the Bears stomping by the Eagles was this: "Let's burn the tape. " Yeah, let's burn the tape. Hey, Jay Cutler, when your agent sits down with the Bears and pitches a ridiculous contract, I'd like to say, "Um, sorry Jay, didn't get a chance to review your performance this year. We burned the tapes.

Three Bears fans walk into a bar. Let's call them Trusty, Scaredy and Doubty: Trusty: So, Jay Cutler should start Sunday, right? Scaredy: Absolutely! Did you see that arm strength in the Cleveland game? He fits the football into windows that Josh McCown can't. No, no … that NO OTHER quarterback can! Doubty: Did you see him force throws in that same Cleveland game? Cripes, he cost the Bears 10 points on forced throws to Brandon Marshall, and simply got lucky that his lollipop of a toss to Alshon Jeffrey wasn't intercepted, either.

He doesn't have the rocket arm. Or the celebrity wife. Or even a Tumblr of him "smoking. " Josh McCown keeps his distance from all that noise. The 34-year-old Texas native's happy-to-be-here approach to his NFL career has helped Chicago embrace him as its "starting" quarterback. That, and his propensity to win games. When Jay Cutler went down with an injury, all McCown did was perform spectacularly--a far cry from, well, any other backup in Bears history. In an exclusive interview with RedEye, the Bears' backup-turned-starter-turned-backup-again dished about tuning out distractions, what he hated about his...

On the surface, the Bears are having what seems to be another in an unending series of very Bearsy seasons. The team is on top of the NFC North with an 8-6 record by a paper-slim margin with two games to go. This could be anywhere between an 8-8 season in which a depleted roster fought bravely but narrowly missed the playoffs, or a valiant 10-6 run with a brutally cold home playoff victory that eventually, probably in playoff Round 2, ends somewhere...
