Alysse Dalessandro of Wicker Park was clueless that her candle featuring Brittany Murphy in "Clueless" would go viral and sell so well. Last month, Dalessandro premiered her '90s jewelry-vintage collection she co-created with Chicagoan Matt Kasin at a party in Bucktown. On a whim, for the collection inspired by "Clueless," "Spice World" and "Romy and Michele's High School Reunion," Dalessandro included a religious candle decorated with a picture of Murphy and her iconic insult to Alicia Silverstone's character in "Clueless": "You're a Virgin who can't drive.

As soon as you're done watching and sharing, look up.  "Look Up" is a video with a message of how much we miss by constantly consuming ourselves with social media and our smart phones. It has gone viral, garnering approximately 20,000,000 views since it was posted to YouTube April 25.  The video, itself, is beautiful. Gary Turk, a London-based filmmaker, tells the story of a man who stops to ask for directions instead of consulting his iPhone. With a spoken-word rhyming convention that would make Dr. Seuss grin, Turk narrates the rest of the man's life with the woman...

So, that sound you just heard was that of about a million fanboys and fangirls squeeing with delight, until they get to that very last part of the trailer and are suddenly silenced, BECAUSE IT'S TOO MUCH AWESOME TO BEAR! I was pretty confident that reuniting Robert Downey Jr. with Shane Black - the duo worked together on "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" , one of my favorite films - would yield some box-office gold. But this trailer for Iron Man 3 has me stoked more than I thought I could be. I'm seriously considering avoiding any more trailers or sneak peeks because I'm afraid they're giving...

The Internet is a wonderful thing.  Today's proof: a random photo, posted to Reddit , of Yeezus himself in a zip-line business office in Mexico. Why is it special? Because it depicts an extremely sad -- or maybe just pooped -- picture of Kanye West sitting in the background as his wife Kim Kardashian poses with another man. Kim, at least, looks like she's having a great time.  There's little more context than that, other than the Reddit user who posted it says he doubts it's ever made it's way online, and the photo's timestamp says it was taken Dec. 10, 2013.  It's only a...

Happy Birthday, Internet!  As the world wide web turns a quarter century, there's been a lot of progress in the past 25 years. Old friends have been buried in the digital graveyard (RIP Napster, Angelfire and Lycos. We'll pretend we miss you!).  But even in 2014, there are some (relatively, of course) ancient sites that just won't die, and remain bravely in their domains like 1996 never passed. They're hard on the eyes, barely functional and will probably make your modern browser vomit, but never forget: These sites still exist and...

Of course it's true, people don't just go and put misinformation on the Internet. Oh wait, yes they do. Trolls, tricksters and the poor people who blindly share their tweets were rampant in 2013, and admit it, you fell for some yourself. Fool me once, shame on you, fool the Internet like these stories did, shame on everyone. The twerk to table OMG SHE'S ON FIRE fail In a time before twerking was named Word of the Year and we weren't all completely sick of it, twerking videos were popular.

(Before I go forward, let me address something. There are a lot of people on the Internet with nothing to do. Thus when something happens in the news, they feel the need to make broad sweeping tweets and craft rambling-ass blog posts about "their take" on whatever is going on. These people are the worst and shoud be shot from cannons. This post is a very calculated attempt to not be that.) I love me some Chick-fil-A. Seriously, it used to be a bonafide treat for me when I visited my grandma down south.

Before I came out, I used to peer out through a window - a chat window on my computer. From the comfort of my digital closet, AOL Instant Messenger, MySpace and numerous other sites were where I learned what it meant to be gay in my teen years. The people I met online, the conversations I had, the information I absorbed through hours upon hours surfing the Internet - it all helped me eventually become comfortable with myself and find my community. Like most gay people these days, I was gay online before I was out in a physical sense.

Last October seven artists, musicians and filmmakers from around the world, including several from Chicago, ventured out into the desolate beauty of the Icelandic countryside with the goal of creating a series of short films. The footage and field recordings they gathered have been compiled into a feature-length documentary titled "Outliers Vol. I: Iceland," which will be screened at Lincoln Hall in Lincoln Park on Tuesday night along with performances from several musicians who contributed to the film's score.

Being not exactly an Iceland expert but at least a guy who's been to Iceland and read a lot about it, I feel as though I must weigh in on the country's proposed ban of internet pornography . As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a meme. To me, a meme was bigger than being president of the United States. It meant you stood for something. So a couple of days ago, I come back into work after getting a coffee. Deadspin proceeds to kick that "blogs can't do quality journalism" BS in the teeth by exposing that Notre Dame linebacker and Heisman finalist Manti Te'o made up having a girlfriend that was dying of cancer. The story was beyond fascinating. I mean, it was like something out of a Season 5-era episode of "Law & Order: SVU. " You saw the hype surrounding...
