Knicks star and cultural phenomenon Jeremy Lin for its "Taste the Lin-Sanity" yogurt offered in Cambridge, Mass., featuring fortune cookies. In case you've missed the link: Lin is of Asian descent. "We offer a heartfelt apology if anyone was offended by our handmade Lin-Sanity flavor," the store said on its Facebook page. "We are proud and honored to have Jeremy Lin hail from one of our fine, local universities and we are huge sports...

Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream is opening its first Chicago shop this August in Lakeview's Southport Corridor. Located at 3404 N. Southport Ave., the shop will have seating for about 25 and standing room inside, along with outdoor seating in front and on the side of the long, narrow space. They're hoping to have doors in front and back to avoid customer traffic jams, said founder Jeni Britton Bauer. The décor will be simple, possibly involving painted wood tile walls. “Each spot that we do is different," Bauer said.

Like a slumbering beast, Rainbow Cone has awakened. The Original Rainbow Cone , a legendary South Side Chicago treat, took to Facebook Tuesday after months of hibernation to announce this season's opening date--and it's just around the corner. The Beverly shop will open its doors for the season at noon March 6 to sell the iconic cone--a stack of chocolate, strawberry, Palmer House (a mixture of vanilla, cherries and walnuts) and pistachio ice cream with orange sherbet on top. Last year, in a panic over turning 29, I created a list of 30 things to accomplish before I turn 30. Some items on the checklist - such as swimming in the ocean for 30 minutes without fear of shark attack and completing two stairclimb events - were easy. Most were a little harder than that. For example in June, I finished my plan to watch a baseball game in every major league ballpark. Then last month, I completed my goal of running a race 10K or longer in every state. In a nod to those indulgent classics, local bars have been adding a touch of whimsy to their menus by playing off of carnival food favorites. Here are a few to hold you over until the next time you're surrounded by bumper cars and Ferris wheels.
