NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Older Americans are now 47 times richer than the youngest generation, marking the largest wealth gap ever recorded between the two age groups. In 2009, households headed by adults 65 years and older held a median net worth of $170,494, while households headed by adults 35 years and younger held a net worth of $3,662, according to a report by the Pew Research Center. While it's typical for older generations to hold more wealth than younger ones who've had less time to save, the gap between the two age groups has widened rapidly.

Kate Green is living the so-called American Dream. She has a husband of five years whom she counts as her soul mate, three young daughters and a four-bedroom, three-bathroom house south of Chicago. And, oh yeah, she's only 25. "I love my life. I love my kids. I love living like a grown-up," said Green, who grew up in Westmont and now lives in Aroma Township in Kankakee County. Consider her a grown-up among adults who prefer playtime to naptime. Only one in five American adults ages 18-29 are married, according to a study Washington think tank Pew Research Center released in December.

There is something about the lemming-like quality of the public discourse that renders presidential debates into these circular talking point showdowns in which not much is illuminated and nothing important challenged. Here following are some obvious questions about the great challenges of our times that one of those “undecided voters” or, you know, a professional journalist could or should have asked Mitt Romney or Barack Obama. • Governor Romney, do you believe that human activity is causing climate change?

Ald. William Burns (4th), 39 Three city issues that should be on our radar : social services, poverty, and economic development. Is being young on the City Council an advantage or disadvantage? I think that being young is an advantage. I approach challenges and people with a fresh perspective. The job also requires a tremendous amount of energy -- as a freshman alderman, I don't have as many staffers at my disposal as committee chairmen do, so I end up writing letters to constituents and working along side my staff.

No one knows better than Jeremy Dubin that now is a great time to buy a house. And yet Dubin, an @Properties real estate broker, sold his Roscoe Village townhouse in the spring and moved into his new place - a luxury apartment in Goose Island. His 23-story building, SoNo East, opened in June, but it's quickly becoming its own social network. Management hosts happy hours for its residents, who have access to a hot tub, fire pit, gym, billiard room and a four-story parking garage (one of the amenities that appealed most to Dubin)
