AMC has renewed "The Walking Dead" for a fifth season in 2014, the network announced Tuesday. Scott Gimple will return as showrunner, as will executive producers Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, David Alpert, Greg Nicotero and Tom Luse. "The Walking Dead" won the ratings last for scripted shows last season, breaking viewership records for a cable drama. So far in Season 4, viewers have been flocking to the show like zombies to brains. The premiere drew 20.2 million viewers if you factor in VCR viewership numbers, with the original 8 p.m. airing grabbing 16.1 million viewers.

Walker Stalker Con Chicago 2014 is set for March 14-16 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, 5555 N. River Road in Rosemont. Fans of AMC's “The Walking Dead” were thrilled this summer when the Season 2 trailer hit San Diego Comic-Con and the web. It began with dozens of hungry zombies shuffling after Shane Walsh (Jon Bernthal), who stumbles just as the flesh eaters are reaching out to lunch on him. Believe it or not, the dramatic scene has been cut from the 90-minute Season 2 premiere ( 8 p.m. Oct. 16, AMC; 3.5 stars ) for less flashy but brilliant-in-their-own-way moments. How many TV shows can dump such a chilling chase yet still send shivers up your spine?

"The Walking Dead" star Norman Reedus got zombie pranked by ultimate fan Nick Santonastasso while promoting the Feb. 9 return of the show in Tokyo. Well-known to "Walking Dead" fans, cast and crew already for his zombie prank videos on Vine, Santonastasso was flown to Tokyo as part of FOX's social media driven #getFOXed campaign, which identifies super fans by creating unmatched fan experiences. Walker Stalker Con Chicago has announced its latest celebrity guest--and he has nothing to do with zombies. Stephen Amell, star of The CW's "Arrow," will appear at the three-day con. The con is set for March 14-16 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, 5555 N. River Road in Rosemont. Amell is aiming for a Saturday and Sunday visit, the con announced Tuesday at its web site . So far the fan gathering has announced several guests from AMC's "The Walking Dead" and just a handful from non-zombie productions.

Robert Rodriguez had been approached many times to create a TV series based upon his and Quentin Tarantino's 1996 cult classic, "From Dusk Till Dawn. " "I said, 'No, Quentin and I control the rights to it,'" the writer-director-editor said. "Falling Skies"will invade San Diego Comic Con on July 13, the latest TV series to announce a panel at the giant fan event July 11-15.
