I think I've got this sabermetrics thing figured out. I'm on to Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer. After analyzing charts of data, tendencies, numerous situations, probabilities, outcomes, statistics, the Cubs have figured out they need to go after Prince Fielder and/or Albert Pujols. Well, duh. I could have told you that. Geniuses, I'll tell ya. If they're so smart, how come David DeJesus is a Cub? Guy hit less than .250 last year. I want to see his metrics. You know, watching these guys go after the big boys, I suddenly remembered something about the Boston Red Sox. They spent about a billion...

For instance, my roommate is obsessed with re-watching “The West Wing” on Netflix right now, and it got me thinking, if any of these shows introduced a character as flamboyantly cruel, simple-minded, and ideologically right wing as Paul Ryan, the producers would have to say, “C'mon, let's not be a bunch of Hollywood liberals making a cartoon character Republican who...

During his time at Chicago's iO Theater in the early '90s, "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues" director/co-writer Adam McKay learned the value of avoiding the first joke that comes to mind, and doing even stupid characters creatively. That philosophy has so informed the filmmaker's career ("The Other Guys," "Step Brothers") that he constantly shouts out improvised and tweaked lines while shooting, to the point that both "Anchorman" films have entire movies worth of alternate jokes. Rest assured, "Anchorman 2" is quite good -- hilariously picking...
