An old frenemy returns to the "Sanctuary" in "Chimera," and I'm not talking about Nikola Tesla. Yes, everyone's favorite snarky vampire (played by Jonathon Young) is back in the episode, which airs on a special night--at 9 p.m. Nov. 29 on Syfy. He and Helen Magnus (Amanda Tapping) undertake a dangerous mission when the Sanctuary computers are attacked. Henry (Ryan Robbins) discovers the problem, but the only way to remedy it is to hook up to the computer. Magnus and Tesla volunteer, and are transported to a virtual Sanctuary, where they encounter the friend/foe whom shall...

Squirrelfriends, what in the name of all that is draggy happened last night? We'll get to the episode soon enough, but first I have to sort of process the insanity that was Willam's sudden, unexplained elimination. What, exactly, was the "rule" that Willam was accused of breaking? As an amateur professional detective, I can only take into consideration the "evidence" given: 1. Willam was experiencing personal problems that had "nothing to do with" the show. 2. willam was quiet and reserved all episode.

It's Bears-Packers week, and it's not like we ever need extra motivation to talk smack to the Packer backers. In fact, I've already purchased four bricks of Jewel-brand cheddar cheese and blown them up with M-80s. (You may be more muted in expressing your distaste; it's cool.) If you ever wanted to pounce on your frenemies to the north, they may never be more nervous than they will be Thursday. Because they know that even though it's only Week 2, their green-and-gold postseason destiny will be on the line.

***1/2 (out of four) By now, you know if you care about Sleigh Bells. Since 2010's “Treats” demolished what we thought we knew about the sonic combination of sweet and salty (and 2012's “Reign of Terror” mostly maintained excitement with heavier subject matter), Alexis Krauss' vocals and Derek Miller's guitars/production have established that rare thing: An original sound. With the new “Bitter Rivals,” the badass New York duo further learns to blend and complement its assets, with smaller differences between bangers and ballads.
