A real “Taste of Home” is coming to Chicago. And it will be really cheesy. Stouffer's Mac 'N' Cheese food truck will be giving away free samples of their signature mac 'n' cheese in the Loop on Wednesday and Thursday. The samples will be passed out during lunchtime hours in three varieties, including savory bacon and chives, tangy buffalo chicken and classic macaroni and cheese. The truck will be stationed at the corner of Fairbanks and Ohio from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday and Couch and Franklin during the same time following day. The truck will make its final stop at St. Rita High School in Chicago's Ashburn Neighborhood on Friday.

Giordano's has officially joined the food truck frenzy. Known for its deep-dish pizza (and spokesman Derrick Rose of the Bulls), Giordano's announced it will be previewing its first-ever food truck by Memorial Day weekend. The 28-foot-long, 12.5-foot-wide truck will be equipped with state-of-the-art conventional ovens and refrigerators, which hold up to 400 pizzas, according to Jessica Wenson, Giordano's manager of media and community affairs. Although the menu will be simplified, offering only personal-size stuffed pizzas in four options--cheese, pepperoni, sausage and spinach--along with salad and soft drinks, Wenson said the Giordano's taste will not be compromised.

Fans of The Salsa Truck will soon be able to follow it to The Garage, its very own venue opening in the West Loop on May 29. The Mexican-inspired food truck hit the streets in late January as the first food truck to obtain a Mobile Food Preparer license, which allows food to be cooked onboard. Chef and owner of The Salsa Truck and The Garage, Dan Salls, said his passion for cooking and love for Mexican street food is what inspired him to ditch his former job as a financial adviser and go into the food truck business.

Mini-review: Saucy Porka 400 S. Financial Place 312-662-1351 Rating: 3 (out of four) Off to a good start Located on an odd little side street in the Financial District, Amy Le's Asian-Latin fusion lunch spot has the feel of a neighborhood restaurant in a part of town populated by sandwich chains in every direction. The former Duck N Roll food truck owner didn't stray far from her roots: Her first restaurant serves cross-cultural comfort food to the lunch masses in the Loop just as her food truck did, garnering a fan base of loyal customers along the way. The backstory: After leaving the food truck scene "burnt out" and "frustrated by the system and legislation," Le set up shop with former Wagyu Wagon food truck chef Rafael Lopez and co-owner Michael Yousef to create Saucy Porka.
