It looks like we're going to see a whole lotta Chicago on "Top Chef: Texas. " In a qualifying round on last night's first episode, five of the six Chicago hopefuls were awarded a spot in the season's cast of 16 cheftestants. That included Sarah Grueneberg of Spiaggia , Heather Terhune of Sable , Chuy Valencia of Chilam Balam as well as Chris Jones and Richie Farina, both from Moto . The sixth Chicago hopeful, Beverly Kim of Aria , has yet to compete in her qualifying challenge and won't appear until the second episode next Wednesday.

The first seven episodes of the "Mad Men" final season ( 9 p.m. April 14, AMC; 3 stars out of 4 ) have been titled "The Beginning. " But this isn't the beginning at all, really -- it's the beginning of the end, both of the 1960s and the show itself. Each season of "Mad Men" picks up with a jump into the future -- Season 2 opens more than a year from the Season 1 finale. But these time-machine trips have become shorter and shorter as the show has progressed, and at the dawn of Season 7, we find ourselves in January 1969, a mere two months after we last saw our antiheroes gathered around...

Updated 1-11: Joseph Gordon-Levitt's new TV series "HitRecord On TV" doesn't premiere on Pivot network until Jan. 18, but the network announced Saturday that it has been renewed for a second season. Participant president Evan Shapiro announced the pickup at the Television Critics Association winter tour in Pasadena, citing strong web traffic for the first episode, which has drawn 500,000 views online since being posted earlier this week. In the spirit of his open-collaborative production company hitRECord, "HitRecord on TV" creates short films, live...

No show on television receives the same kind of writerly worship and scrutiny as AMC's “Mad Men.” The post-mortem's of the fifth season's first episode dominated every blog and website Monday morning, and this is entirely deserved. The serial drama, first dominated by HBO with “The Sopranos”, has become the chic way to remain literary without actually reading a book. However, it has long been my stance that dramas like “Mad Men” and “The Wire” really do have literary ambitions and represent a potential revolution in long-form storytelling if a network could ever eschew their profit...

Well, squirrelfriends, boyfriends and other fans of"RuPaul's Drag Race,"there's both good news and bad news about the upcoming all-stars season of the cult hit show on Logo. The bad news? There will be only six, one-hour episodes of "RuPaul's All Stars Drag Race," not including the behind-the-scenes-drama "Untucked!" that follows the main show. For devoted "Drag Race" fans, those six episodes will fly by. The good news, though, is that there's a slate of guest judges including Beth Ditto, Janice Dickinson, Wendi McLendon-Covey (from "Bridesmaids")

As Dr. Will Zimmerman in “Sanctuary,” Robin Dunne has been turned into a bug, submerged for long hours in a tank of freezing water, made to do an Indian dance and knocked around too many times to count. So it's no surprise that when Dunne directed his first episode, show boss Damian Kindler would give him a difficult assignment. “Before the season started Damian said, 'I know what episode you're going to get. Don't worry; It's going to be great,'” Dunne said at San Diego Comic-Con in July.

One of what is likely to be many water-cooler moments in "Spartacus: Vengeance" occurs in the premiere. As anyone knows who has seen the previous installments of the series about gladiator-turned-rebel leader Spartacus, creator Steven S. DeKnight and his writers don't shy away from blood, guts or eye-opening Roman sex. But the rebels' trip to a, um, men's club in the premiere is going to go down in infamy as "that brothel battle. " Did the Romans actually use strap-ons? "Haven't you done your research?"

After burning off the charming "Bent" over three short weeks, NBC is burying another one of its new sitcoms on Wednesday nights. In other words, don't get too attached to "Best Friends Forever" ( 7:30 p.m. APril 4, NBC; 2 stars ), the new comedy about two longtime friends who move in together after one gets divorce papers from her hubby. Jessica St. Clair (Whitney from "Bridesmaids") plays Jessica Black, who moves from San Francisco back home to Brooklyn after said split and into the waiting arms and apartment of her BFF, Lenn (Lennon Parham)

Don't be afraid, "The Neighbors" means you no harm. ABC's new aliens-among-us sitcom traveled to our TVs simply to be silly. Created by Dan Fogelman (the "Cars" movies), "The Neighbors" ( 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, ABC; 2 stars out of 4 ) revives an old storyline used in everything from the the "SNL" Coneheads sketch to "Third Rock from the Sun. " It just doesn't do it as well. Marty (Lenny Venito) and Debbie Weaver (Chicago native Jami Gertz) move with their three kids from New York to the gated suburban community of Hidden Hills, N.J., where the houses...

Roman Godrey, the wealthy, weird teen played by Bill Skarsgard on "Hemlock Grove" ( April 19 on Netflix; 1.5 stars out of 4 ), tokes the marijuana he sells to fellow high school students. That might be the key to understanding the 13-episode horror mashup. The online streaming service's latest foray into original programming after "House of Cards," "Hemlock Grove" feels a little like a high gone awry. Set in a Pennsylvania town that is as dangerous as it is charming - aren't they all like that, "Twin Peaks" fans?

Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, Arthur Darvill and the entire "Doctor Who" gang began filming the upcoming Season 7 in Cardiff, Wales, this week, and BBC America just released the first photo from the set. Darvill, Smith and Gillan, shown with the show's fourth lead, the TARDIS, appear happy to be back on set. They're smiling, but it's kind of bittersweet, as fans will have to say good-bye to companions Amy and Rory at the end of the season. "This season will see the last days of the Ponds, with Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill returning for...
