What CAN'T this kid do? Chance the Rapper threw out the first pitch at last night's White Sox game and unlike 50 Cent, he actually managed to keep it in the same area code. Chance will be performing at Northwestern's Dillo Day student concert on Saturday. Watch video of the pitch below:   Your browser does not support iframes. Want more? ***1/2 (out of four) Reviews often overstate a band's growth from album to album, so let's put it this way: Many people make a lot of progress between their late teens and early 20s. Those years have served the Orwells very well. The Elmhurst natives, who have spent 2014 opening for Arctic Monkeys and blowing David Letterman's mind, have taken the raw promise of their sometimes-dull 2012 debut full-length, “Remember When,” and honed it into the smart kind of sloppy on “Disgraceland.” The group still at times sounds like a punky version of the Doors, yanked from the haze of...

If you're reading this on the toilet, do not feel ashamed.  A new (albeit sponsored) study suggests the average American spends 16-minutes daily on an electronic device while on the porcelain throne. Yes, daily. And the things people do during those long trips to the bathroom are kind of gross when you think about it. The study, from bathroom product maker Lysol, was conducted while researching a new product, according to a press release. Here are the results, with commentary in parenthesis:  57 percent read a tweet, Instagram feed, or Facebook...

* (out of four) Plenty of stories covered in animated Disney movies have become live-action adventures. “101 Dalmatians.” “Alice in Wonderland.” “Mirror Mirror” and “Snow White and the Huntsman.” “Hook.” “The Sorcerer's Apprentice.” Next year's live-action “Jungle Book.” I wouldn't bet against a live-action “Lady and the Tramp” starring Uggie from “The Artist.” What makes “Maleficent” special is...

Until recently, Nick Van Hofwegen, the Netherlands-born, L.A.-based artist behind Young & Sick, maintained an air of mystery on par with Keyser Soze. The musician didn't have a Facebook page or a Twitter presence, and in early press interviews he preferred to remain anonymous.   “It was mostly trying to push out both art and music and have them completely speak for themselves without any distractions,” said Van Hofwegen, 27, by phone. “I still try to keep it that way as much as possible.”   It's certainly getting more difficult.

West Town is facing an uptick in purse-snatchers this month, according to a Chicago Police Department alert. The alert said one or two men have been approaching women in the Near West Side community area, attacking them and stealing their purses. The Near West Side community area is covered by parts of the 12th police district. The incidents reportedly took place in the 1100 block of North Wood Street on May 12 around 9:40 p.m.; in the 1700 block of West Augusta Boulevard on May 22 at about 12:25 a.m.; and in the 1800 block of West Fulton...

***1/2 (out of four) Enough of Rihanna and Katy Perry and Lady Gaga. The world is (at least, should be) ready for a new pop star. Based on “Forever For Now,” that star should be LP, whose major-label debut is nothing less than 12 consecutive potential hits. That isn't to say the record sounds like an artist stretching for chart success and coming up with something pandering and easily accessible. (You hear me, Coldplay?) Rather, LP delivers one catchy pop anthem after another that also serve as well-written, exhilarating showcases...

Kanye West debuted a new song "God Level" via a commercial that aired Saturday during the UEFA Champions League final.  The commercial - and new song - kicked off Adidas' "The Dream: All In Or Nothing" Wolrd Cup ad campaign. Now that Kanye West is #TeamAdidas (He signed a sponsorship deal with the brand after leaving Nike at the end of 2013.), we've been wondering when we were going to see his first collab with the brand. Turns out, it's a new song produced by West and Hudson Mohawke (TNGHT)

My friend texted me a link to a Variety story , reporting that "Wet Hot American Summer," only one of the best comedies of all time, may be returning as a 10-episode Netflix series. This was my response: "Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat. " For a few years there's been talk of a "WHAS" prequel, hilariously featuring the same cast (including Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks, Amy Poehler, Bradley Cooper, Michael Ian Black, co-writer Michael Showalter, Janeane Garofalo, David Hyde Pierce, Christopher Meloni and many more big names)
