*** (out of four) “The Muppets” star/co-writer Jason Segel sees nothing wrong with adults loving to entertain children of all ages with puppets. Neither does Kevin Clash, who grew up admiring Jim Henson and later befriended the entertainment innovator as Clash worked on “Labyrinth” and “Sesame Street” and, through his voice and puppetry, turned Elmo into the superstar he is today. This 73-minute documentary by Constance Marks and Philip Shane traces Clash's life from his Baltimore-area adolescence - where...

"Sesame Street" is spoofing its fellow PBS show "Downton Abbey" on Feb. 4 with "Upside Downton Abbey. " As you can see in the clip above, the Dowager Countess and butler Mr. Carson are having some issues with the topsy turvy take on the British series. Carson just can't seem to get the Countess her tea, or crumpets, before they fall to the ceiling. Things get back to normal with she agrees to the change the name of the estate to Right Side Upton Abbey. Katy Perry's firework bra is about to become even more unrealistic. Thr.com reports the singer has signed a deal with Electronic Arts to collaborate with its "Sims" series, including clothing, hairstyles, furniture and props within the game. Are these two a match made in virtual heaven or what? It's been a while since we jumped into the "Sims" world, but we did some brainstorming ahead of the March release of the new title to see what might be in store for gamers. damoran@tribune.com | @redeyedana "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)"

They were subdued in North Carolina, pepper-sprayed in Washington and arrested in Georgia. In case this nugget of news slipped under your radar over the Christmas weekend, I'm talking about shoppers - throngs of unhinged shoppers who were whipped into a frenzy on Friday over the release of the new Air Jordan 11 Retro Concord sneaks. Closer to home, police in Elmhurst said a man was robbed of his Jordans at gunpoint Saturday after posting an ad on Craigslist to trade his shoes, triblocal.com reported.

I'm not quite sure why the 20-something characters of MTV's new series "Underemployed" are surprised they're having a hard time finding success as a model, a rocker or an author. After all, everyone knows the path to success in entertainment travels only through such reality shows as "American Idol," "America's Next Top Model" or MTV's own "The Real World. " I mean, right? Speaking of "Real World," the Chicago-filmed "Underemployed" ( 9 p.m. Oct. 16, MTV; 2.5 stars out of 4 )

When the editors at RedEye were like, "We need a full-blown Scrooge column for our holiday issue. Get Markley," I objected. Yes, of course I'll gladly volunteer to write the Scrooge column - not because I fall under the umbrella term of a Scrooge per se, but simply because I have rational opinions about objective reality. Some of those opinions are nothing more than observations about why "Christmas" and the "holiday season" are kind of stupid. For instance: > > Jesus Christ was just a metaphor for the sun, not actually God or the son of God. God almost...

Not even trying to mince words here: If you haven't accepted that the Y.N. Rich Kids are the best rap group doing it yet, you're doing yourself a terrible disservice, and I hope you stub your toe later today. For those of you who missed the boat, the group is a product of an afterschool program in Minneapolis called "Beats & Rhymes. " The purpose of the program (according to them) is " to provide school-age kids the chance to experience making and recording music in a way they could relate to. Each student...

Thanks to medication and spending every night in a sleeping bag, comedian Mike Birbiglia has his sleepwalking episodes under control. Well, except during times of intense anxiety - such as when he co-directs, co-writes and stars in a movie based on his sleepwalking experiences. “[While] shooting the movie I would have dreams where I was directing the movie. Because I was working these long, long hours, I was sleep deprived, which is terrible for sleep disorders,” says Birbiglia of making the Sundance hit...
