It was only a month ago that I decided to branch out from my usual Harold's Chicken on Milwaukee Avenue to seek out the others on a monthly basis. Since No. 1 is gone, I charted a course for Harold's No. 2, and though I like the idea of marching one-by-one through Chicago's fried chicken king, on Monday I skipped ahead to No. 45 to pay homage to the restaurant's wall-size Derrick Rose mural. Painted in early 2011, the mural portrays Rose in uniform facing his franchise's retired jersey banners at the United Center over the caption "The Rising Star.

Nice all-star break for the Bulls. I need it, too. I need a break from the silliness that is the NBA. If I were an NBA coach and someone asked me what I did for a living, I'd just say, "I work with children. " The latest: Jay Williams, throwing allegations around that the Bulls smoked pot during the 2002-03 season. OK, look at that team, he's probably right. Eddy Curry, Tyson Chandler, Donyell Marshall, Jamal Crawford, Jalen Rose. Coached by Bill Cartwright. My god, people may have needed a puff or two just looking at that lineup!

If you can't beat him, sign him. That's what we're down to in Chicago. There is no way, healthy or not, Derrick Rose or not, that the Bulls can play with the Miami Heat. So, it gets real simple: At the end of 2013-14, LeBron James can opt out of his deal with the Heat. That's when the Bulls come knocking with a) Healthy Derrick Rose b) Tons of cash and cap space c) Maybe another stud. Who that other guy is, I don't know, but they'll have the room to add someone. Hey, I'm not the minutia guy; I'm the big picture dreamer.

Derrick Rose and Jay Cutler are so different that it's actually funny to me to imagine them together. I imagine their conversation as follows: Derrick: "Hi. " Jay: "Sup. " (Jay makes uncomfortable sad faces while Derrick stares at the ceiling eating Skittles). End of conversation. But their knee injuries have given them something in common. While Cutler's decision to not re-enter the NFC championship game wasn't up to him, Rose has been reportedly cleared to return a month ago and faces no greater risk for re-injury than at any point in his career.

No more suits. No more trying to interpret body language during warm-ups. No more waiting. On Wednesday, Derrick Rose was back, playing at the United Center for the first time since his knee injury in April 2012. As far as the Bulls were concerned, Wednesday's game against Detroit was as much about fixing the rough edges as their point guard's triumphant return. But for everyone else watching at the United Center or on TV, it was all about D-Rose. Here are the Top 5 moments from his first game back in front of the home fans. Little help?

While we're all busy breaking up the Bulls, let's break up the Bears, too. We're good at that around here, breaking teams up before they win anything. But before that, we say goodbye to the Metrodome. If there ever was a facility that won't be missed by the Bag, this is the one. Never liked the noise, turf, people, roof, that silly horn and, of course, the teams. Twins and Vikings, both hated. Here are my Top 5 moments: 1. Sept. 19, 1985: Jim McMahon throws three TDs off the bench.

Derrick Rose wasn't down with the dance moves LeBron James pulled off during player introductions for Sunday's All-Star Game in Orlando. Rose told the Tribune after the game that James' antics were inappropriate. "I can dance. But there's a time and place for that," Rose told Tribune Bulls reporter K.C. Johnson. "And I don't think that it was then and there. " RedEye appreciates Rose's focus and intensity, but isn't it OK to dance at the All-Star Game? If that's not the right time and place, then what is?

Watching the new Adidas video featuring Derrick Rose (see it here ), it's hard to believe he's still months away from playing for the Bulls again. The way he's powering through exercises in the clips, you'd think he'd be good to go by Friday. Alas, it's merely a small glimpse into his rehab from a major knee injury. From what we can tell, these are his inspirations as he gets back on track. Beach volleyball players We know he's got the hops for volleyball, and at one point Rose is shown throwing a ball against a wall in rapid succession.

Kirk Hinrich may not like those protective glasses he has to wear on the court, but here at RedEye, we feel they could be the making of something great. Take a piece of protective wear here and another piece there from a Bulls teammate and you could create a Voltron-like creature of power! Were he to be set loose, he could rule the NBA with a plastic fist of fury. Or, ahem, something like that. . Take Hinrich's glasses and make them impervious to tear gas. . Add Rip Hamilton's face mask, in a UV-filtering material that deflects gamma rays.

All this Derrick Rose jazz can be frustrating. We get it. But look on the bright side: the Bulls could have taken Kansas State's Michael Beasley with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2008 NBA Draft. Imagine that. Yikes. That was once the great draft debate, remember? Rose or Beasley? Rose or Beasley? Hmmm... To make a short story even shorter, Beasley never panned out. Not even close. By all accounts Beasley is a “bust.” He's one example of many great college athletes that seemed destined for successful pro careers and ended up falling flat on their face. With this year's NBA draft still fresh in the review mirror, Bulls fans can only hope that Tony Snell doesn't slam his motorcycle into a pole (Yes, I'm talking about you, Jay Williams)
