Starz has released its first trailer for the David S. Goyer created historical drama "Da Vinci's Demons. " Goyer, who wrote "Batman Begins," "The Dark Knight" and "Man of Steel," takes great liberties with the history of artist and inventor Leonardo Da Vinci, but it looks like a great time. It should help relieve the sadness fans of the network's "Spartacus" may feel when that show ends its run next spring. "Da Vinci's Demons" will debut after "Spartacus" ends. Starz is ramping up its promotions for the April 12 premiere of "Da Vinci's Demons," its reimagining of Leonardo Da Vinci's exploits as 20something artist-inventor-adventurer about town. David S. Goyer's historical fantasy series "Da Vinci's Demons" will premiere April 12, Starz announced over the weekend at the Television Critics Association in Pasadena, where the cable network showed the new series trailer below. Leonardo da Vinci doesn't just battle his inner devils in the latest episode of "Da Vinci's Demons. " He takes on Vlad the Impaler. Yes, that Vlad - Dracula. No wonder the episode, debuting at 8 p.m. CT May 17 on Starz, is called "The Devil. " The Turk (Alexander Siddig) visits Leo (Tom Riley) to offer a clue about the Book of Leaves. Leo is inspired - or tricked of drugged or something - into rounding up Zoroaster (Gregg Chillin) and Nico (Eros Vlahos) and heading to Wallachia, where they encounter Vlad Dracula in all his morose glory.

Lara Pulver wowed Americans a year ago when, as Irene Adler in "Sherlock" on PBS, she walked into our living rooms wearing nothing but a pair of Louboutin heels and a don't-[bleep]-with-me attitude. The whip-cracking dominatrix Irene knew who she was and what she wanted. She was just fine with parading buck naked in front of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson to get it. Although we don't see that much of the 32-year-old British actress in Starz' "Da Vinci's Demons," her character is just as strong--if not as brazen.
