Chicago on Monday reached 150 homicides for the year, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found. An 18-year-old woman was shot to death in the 5700 block of South Sangamon Street in Englewood, the Tribune reported. Chicago reached 150 homicides for the year on April 20, 2012; June 3, 2011 and May 18, 2010, according to RedEye data. Homicides are down year-to-date 33 percent versus 2012 and 8.5 percent versus 2011, RedEye determined.

Chicago today logged its 350th homicide of the year, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found. Two men were shot to death today in the 10500 block of South Lafayette Avenue in Roseland, the Tribune reported. Chicago reached 350 homicides in 2012 on Aug. 21 and in 2011 on Oct. 19, RedEye determined. Homicides are down 18 percent versus 2012 and up 3 percent versus 2011, according to RedEye data.

If you browsed one of the city's crime lists online Friday morning, you would think Chicago was in the middle of a record breaking year with only 11 homicides in 2014. Chicago Police said Friday they are experiencing a "temporary technology glitch" that causes some cases to not appear when users search one of the department's most popular datasets. Of this year's 74 Chicago homicides, eight, or about 10 percent, did not show up in a RedEye search this week of the department dataset for crime dating back to 2001.

On Saturday, Woodlawn saw its third homicide of the month and 13th homicide of the year, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found. A 30-year-old man was shot to death in the 6300 block of South Ellis Avenue, police said. Woodlawn recorded eight homicides last year, RedEye data shows. Meanwhile, on Sunday, a 55-year-old man was stabbed to death in the 200 block of West 115th Street in Roseland, police said. Roseland has seen 17 homicides so far this year. The South Side community area logged 26 homicides last year, according to RedEye data.

Englewood and North Lawndale each saw two homicides in the last week, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found. In Englewood, a 28-year-old man was shot to death Sunday in the 5800 block of South Shields Avenue, police said. One day earlier, a 2-year-old girl was beaten to death in the 5500 block of South Emerald Avenue, police said. Englewood has recorded six homicides so far this year. The South Side community area logged 27 homicides last year, RedEye data shows.

Austin saw three homicides in two days this week, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found. On Tuesday, two men, ages 22 and 25, were shot to death in the 1200 block of North Mason Avenue, police said. Two days earlier, a 35-year-old man was fatally shot in the 1300 block of North Lorel Avenue, according to officials. Austin, Chicago's largest community area, has logged 14 homicides so far this year, RedEye data shows. The West Side community recorded 30 homicides last year, RedEye data shows.

A man and a woman were stabbed to death in separate incidents on the North Side Tuesday morning, police said. A 22-year-old man was fatally stabbed in the 1400 block of North Sedgwick Street on the Near North Side, and a 53-year-old woman was stabbed to death in the 6100 block of North Sheridan Road in Edgewater, according to officials. Twenty-seven stabbing deaths have been recorded in Chicago so far this year, the same number in all of 2011, according to a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data.
