What a twit. I mean tweet! On Tuesday, Miley Cyrus fired back at the haters who were calling her fat on Twitter. She defended her womanly curves by saying she loved her body and posted a picture of Marilyn Monroe with the caption: "Proof that you can be adored by thousands of men even when your thighs touch. " I'm proud of Lil Miss Thang. Not because I necessarily agree with her retort, but for an 18-year-old who's had some pretty un-Disneylike slip-ups, the girl really tried to set an example for her 3.5 million Twitter followers.

Anthony Alfano had a secret, and he wasn't about to tell the DePaul hockey teammates with whom he shared a locker room. "I wasn't out to [my teammates]," the 23-year-old Uptown resident said. "It was that constant everyone talking about my girlfriend this or I'm gonna go meet up with some girls, get a girl at a bar. " America has trended toward acceptance when it comes to the LGBT community in recent years. In Illinois, lawmakers recently approved gay marriage. But Alfano said the locker room lags behind.

*** (out of four) Predictable. Corny. Those terms certainly fit “Trouble with the Curve.” Guess what? They fit the vast majority of sports movies. Though not without its flaws, “Curve” is a movie you root for. Veteran baseball scout Gus (Clint Eastwood) has spent his life knowing what players to get behind. Now, with three months left on his contract, Gus can barely see, but he'll be damned if he lets the younger folks in the Atlanta Braves organization (including a slimy, sexist Matthew Lillard)

The CTA has revised its proposals to update the northern Red and Purple lines, and it's laying out the ideas - one including station closures - this week. Both lines are in need of rehab. Each had nearly 20 percent of track under slow zones last month, according to a map posted on transitchicago.com. Among the options the agency presented Monday at the Evanston Main Library: Closing stations, designating the Loyola stop for transfers between the Red and Purple lines, and creating a so-called flyover that would allow Brown Line trains to cross above...

You always remember your first time. It's sweaty, awkward; you don't know what to do with your hands. The first experience with flip cup is so memorable. The game's nothing without the iconic red Solo cup though, right? Have you ever tried to play with some other kind of cup? It just doesn't feel right. The company that makes the landmark plastic drinkware (based in suburban Chicago, don'cha know) is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, and since I'm the only Pulitzer-winner* on staff, I took a crack at a composition in honor of the occasion.

***1/2 (out of four) Bizarre and deliciously intriguing, “In the House” is not a feature-length adaptation of the mid-'90s, LL Cool J-starring sitcom of the same name. If it were, the first four words of this review probably would not be there. This sometimes-hilarious French dramedy explores the way we engineer our lives as entertainment, and the point at which escape overcompensates for what's being escaped. Burned-out teacher Germain (Fabrice Luchini) delights in 16-year-old Claude (Ernst Umhauer)

2.5 out of 4 When the Weeknd first crept up a couple years ago, the group, which soon would consist only of Abel Tesfaye, chose the route of enigmatic Internet mystique. Tesfaye hid his face and didn't talk much. He didn't really have to - between three popular mixtapes and a Drake co-sign, the hype took care of itself, though he remained shrouded. His music - lurchy R&B that lent itself better to leaned-out night moves than any real kind of dancing - was just as uneasy, with haunting lo-fi production and vocals.

*1/2 (out of four) This true story of morally questionable, mid-20th century L.A. cops and their efforts to rid the city of organized crime and corruption contains so much intrigue, it's a wonder no one's done it before. Oops, they have. Sixteen years after Curtis Hanson's exceptional “L.A. Confidential,” the silly, redundant “Gangster Squad” attempts to mine the period for violent pizzazz and romantic va-va-voom. Its flair is all posturing, its hints of style nothing but hollow tricks.

Time to get a new line, CTA. The agency has dusted off a version of its infamous "leave early, leave late, alternate" motto for the Wells Street bridge closure project, which begins Friday night and is slated to end before morning rush hour March 11. For more than nine days, riders will be subjected to Brown and Purple Line and Loop reroutes as the Chicago Department of Transportation overhauls the Wells Street bridge and the CTA replaces tracks...
