It's appropriate that "Cougar Town" finally begins its third season on Valentine's Day, because the charming and wonderfully funny sitcom always has had love in its heart. Not just romantic love - although there is plenty of that in the season premiere ( 7:30 p.m. Feb. 14, ABC; 3.5 stars ) - but also the love between family members and between friends. First "Community," now "Cougar Town. " What is the deal with the networks taking my favorite comedies off their schedules? Just a week after NBC disappointed "Community" fans by dropping it from the spring schedule, ABC has decided to leave its quirky Courtney Cox sitcom off its spring list - at least for now. The network says the series will be back at some point. Sadly, the network has dropped its episode order from 22 to 15. Annoooying. ABC also didn't offer premiere dates for new comedy "Apartment 23" and Shonda Rhimes' drama "Scandal.

The 2012 Emmy nominations are in the books and my first-blush reactions are mixed. Some surprises left me smiling while I was scratching my head about a few perennial nominations. And of course I have to bitch about them all. So here's a quick list of the noms that made me happy and not so much. I'll probably have more to see later, too. But I'm on vacation and I'm supposed to be relaxing, not getting upset. I'm thrilled to see: Chicago gal Joan Cusack gets a guest nomination for"Shameless.

ABC, you can do better than this drivel you call "Work It" (7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3; 0 stars - that's right, zero stars). "Work It" is so bad, it makes the equally dismal "Last Man Standing," which airs at 7 p.m. Tuesdays on ABC, look brilliant. I look forward to January TV because one of my favorite shows, FX's "Justified," always premieres at the midseason. But the 2013 midseason schedule is special for another reason: "Cougar Town" begins its new life on TBS Jan. 8, the same night Season 4 of "Justified" begins. My DVR will be working hard this month. Several new and returning shows kick off this month, so here's a list of season, midseason and series premieres, movies and specials.
