An old frenemy returns to the "Sanctuary" in "Chimera," and I'm not talking about Nikola Tesla. Yes, everyone's favorite snarky vampire (played by Jonathon Young) is back in the episode, which airs on a special night--at 9 p.m. Nov. 29 on Syfy. He and Helen Magnus (Amanda Tapping) undertake a dangerous mission when the Sanctuary computers are attacked. Henry (Ryan Robbins) discovers the problem, but the only way to remedy it is to hook up to the computer. Insurgents from Hollow Earth resurface in the next episode of "Sanctuary," resulting in a happy reunion and an unexpected betrayal. Kate Freelander is back on Earth, instead of inside it. (The best part of that news, however, is that Agam Darshi is back on "Sanctuary. " I've missed her these past few episodes.) In the sneak peek for "Acolyte," airing at 9 p.m. Dec. 9 on Syfy, Kate and Will (Robin Dunne) interrogate an abnormal who is part of the Hollow Earth team plotting an above-ground attack.

The fall TV season gets underway in September, with the brand new season of "Doctor Who" leading the way. This year the major networks have spread out their new and returning show premieres. If you don't see a series listed here, it's more than likely not back until October. Or I forgot it. I'll update as I learn about more series and season premieres and finales. Drones are in the news thanks to a leaked Department of Justice memo outlining the legal reasoning behind the killing of American citizen and al-Qaeda propagandist Anwar Al-Awlaki. For those of us extremely unsettled by the Bush-Obama policy of extra-judicial assassination by unmanned aircraft, it's nice to at least see some major news organizations dusting off their mostly useless conventional wisdom-spewing megaphones to update the country on the government's ongoing secret assassination program via robot.
