If Chicagoans weren't already sickened by the allegations in the Penn State child abuse scandal, they will be after they hear Mike Ditka's defense of Penn State football coach Joe Paterno. "I think it's very unfair, but that's the media," Ditka said in an interview with Action News in Philadelphia. "He did what he was supposed to do and unfortunately, great people get dragged down when stupid people do bad things. " Alas, it looks as if Joe Paterno, who was fired by university trustees Wednesday, did some bad things himself.

Northwestern.xxx will soon be a real destination for web browsers, but it won't be a place for peddling porn. Northwestern University has joined other schools in registering for the adult-oriented domain extension before the names go on sale to the public Tuesday. "We have no intentions of creating a site that would reside on that domain," said Northwestern spokesman Alan Cubbage, adding that the purchase is a way of "protecting Northwestern's good name.
