Soho House, the boho-chic private members' club and hotel chain is coming to Chicago as part of an expansion to take place by 2014, the New York Daily News reports . The expansion of the group, which was founded as a club in 1995 and has grown to include restaurants, hotels and cinemas, will see new venues opening up in five destinations deemed 'cool' enough for the brand, long regarded as an arbiter of taste on London's art and media scene....

This isn't going to help Cubs fans shed the stereotype of disinterested followers who only come to Wrigley Field for the scene or the party or the opposite sex. Facebook has compiled the most social landmarks around the world, and Wrigley Field ranks first in Chicago. The social media giant used check-ins on Facebook and apps that use Facebook's API to arrive at their list.  Here is the Top 5 in Chicago. 1. Wrigley Field 2. United Center 3. Navy Pier 4. Soldier Field 5. Millennium Park (Transportation hubs--airports, train stations, bus stations, etc.--were excluded in the study.

It takes a combination of skill and experience to make it as a messenger in Chicago. It takes determination to be the best in the world. Nico Deportago-Cabrera has it all. The 28-year-old bike messenger from Bucktown has consistently placed in the Top 20 in both national and international championships for bike messengers since 2009. Although this year he sat out the Cycle Messenger World Championships, which were held in Chicago from Aug. 2-5, he said the winner of that event should consider himself the best in the world.

You don't need to be told how hot it is outside. But just for fun, it's REALLY freaking hot! Free Popsicles sound pretty good right about now, don't they? Well, they're coming. Two men were stabbed to death in separate incidents in Chicago in the last week, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found. On Sunday, a 71-year-old man was fatally stabbed in the 12900 block of South Manistee Avenue in Hegewisch, officials said. Three days earlier, a 39-year-old man was stabbed to death in the 3500 block of West Douglas Boulevard in North Lawndale, police said. Stabbings account for about 10 percent of the 151 homicides recorded in Chicago this year, as of presstime, RedEye data shows.

Winter has officially reared its ugly head. Central Standard Time has robbed us of daylight, the NHL has removed all incentive to pretend to care about the Blackhawks in November, Derrick Rose is tirelessly rehabbing his singular gift for making the Bulls watchable, and the Bears have entered their traditional period of darkness in which Jay Cutler is injured. We're on our own, now, Chicago. It's time to buy books and video games, and get excited because there's a sale on the big jug of the good whiskey.

Belmont Cragin on Saturday recorded its eighth homicide of the year, up from two homicides in 2011, a RedEye analysis of preliminary police data found. A 29-year-old man was shot to death Saturday in the 4900 block of West Diversey Avenue in the Northwest Side community area, police said. Citywide, gunshot homicides were recorded in the last week in Austin, Englewood, New City, South Deering and Washington Park, RedEye data found. In Avondale, a 39-year-old man was found strangled to death Tuesday in the 3100 block of North Central Park Avenue, police said.
