Meredyth Richards says it's tough in Chicago for a conservative. The 24-year-old Lincoln Park resident is politically active, passionately devoted to Republican causes and living in a city where the numbers are stacked against her. Richards, the president of the Chicago Young Republicans, said she's even considered moving. Why does she stay? "Aside from being a masochist, I don't really know," Richards said, perhaps only half-jokingly, while adding that "the city is wonderful and it has its perks.

What's really going on at the Republican National Convention? John Giokaris, political director of the Chicago Young Republicans, is in Tampa, Fla., and giving RedEye a behind-the-scenes peek at the event. Hurricane? What hurricane? While our thougths are with the communities in Isaac's path, Tampa barely was touched. As it turned out, there was really no need to cancel Monday's events. It just gave everyone an excuse to party. Ybor City and The Cuban Club are the hot spots around Tampa Bay. Anyone who wasn't working was drinking and socializing there - not just politicians and staffers, but also...

President Obama addressed the nation Tuesday to deliver his appeal for punishment of Syria. We asked four RedEye special contributors for their reactions to the speech. War and non-peace President Obama played the "dying children" card in his little powwow with the American people. The general response: "What's happening in Syria is terrible, but ... . Any other time, a guy like Romney, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, would be admired as a great example to follow. After receiving a juris doctorate and a master's of business administration, he became a financial success by building an investment company from the ground up. He then went on to...

Party's on in Tampa! Well, as soon as Isaac blows through, it is. For years, I've heard from seasoned vets that if you ever get a chance to go to a national political convention - go! The energy is electrifying, they say. The personalities you come across are magnetic, and there are tons of amazing-looking singles there partying every night. So when I was offered the opportunity to work at this week's Republican National Convention in Florida, I jumped at the chance. Plenty of Millennials like me will be in attendance, either working backstage or in the crowd screaming...
