Thanks to Corey Crawford & Co., it's still hockey season in Chicago. The defending champs are now only three wins away from a return trip to the Stanley Cup Final, which means it's time for bandwagon fans to come out of the woodwork and buy Patrick Kane jerseys at Sports Authority. I'm the absolute wrong person to judge someone's Blackhawks loyalty. But I've never pretended to be a big supporter. I root for this team because it's positive for the city's economy and warm weather + tight women's Hawks shirts = cool.

Wait, wait. Brandon Bollig was in an actual movie?  That's the takeaway from an otherwise hilariously awkward video from the Chicago Blackhawks for the holidays, released over the weekend. As every Hawks star takes their turn at reenacting classic films (Kaner plays Anakin Skywalker, Patrick Sharp is Batman, Jonathan Toews is Wolverine), Brandon Bollig actually reprised a real role.  It may come as a surprise to some (it did to us), but Bollig actually starred in 2002s "Defiance," a Western where he plays a 12-year-old who loses a father.

For a moment, soccer fans' hearts might have almost jumped out of their chests Tuesday when they saw the title of one of NBC's new series: "Chicago Fire. " Alas, NBC's "Fire" is actually about the Chicago Fire Department, not the Chicago Fire MLS team that plays at Toyota Park in Bridgeview. Someone should give the suits at NBC a slap upside the head for getting our hopes up. The mis-titled series, though, gave RedEye an idea. What would other TV series really be about if they were named after Chicago sports teams?

Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane shaved the beard but kept his mullet for his appearance on "Late Show with David Letterman" on Wednesday. The Stanley Cup playoffs MVP also brought his Conn Smythe Trophy and the actual Stanley Cup, which Kane said the Blackhawks have been parading around Chicago since winning the NHL title against the Boston Bruins on Monday night. "Wherever that thing is people tend to want to be there and be around it," Kane said, calling it the "coolest trophy in sports.

Glad it's over. It was fun while it lasted, but the Bulls season got tiring. Namely, I was tired of reading this before every game: "Rose, Hinrich, Deng out. " In the end, the Heat were too much, and yeah, maybe heart can't beat talent in the NBA. I keep thinking of those great Hollywood endings where you know what's coming, and the guys you like are so badly outnumbered, it can only end badly. "Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid," "The Wild Bunch," "Bonnie and Clyde," "Heat.

2013 (year): Most recent increment of the Gregorian calendar in which the Oxford English Dictionary celebrated the word "selfie. " Yep, that happened. On Monday, the English dictionary chose, out of the tens of thousands of words it alphabetizes, spells right and defines, the word "selfie" as 2013's Word of the Year . If you're not a fan of the term that describes blurry, often duck-faced self-shots from camera phones, or an English major, try to squint through the tears and read on: "twerking" was a runner-up.

You know Bill Burr is a hardcore Boston Bruins fan because when he talks about the team, he says, "we. " The last time he played the Chicago Theater, in 2011, the Bruins won the Stanley Cup. This time, the Blackhawks got the better of the Bruins. You won't find any bitterness in the 45-year-old actor and comedian, however. "[The Hawks] were the favorite and they lived up to it; you can't get upset losing to the best team," said Burr, who plays Kuby on "Breaking Bad. " "Either way, I've been watching the Bruins since the early '80s so to actually see them win a...
