The Big Cheese 4229 N. Lincoln Ave. 773-661-6993 Rating: !!! (out of 4) Off to a good start I have a rule when I dine out to not order items I could easily make at home. With this mantra in mind, I was skeptical that a grilled cheese spot could offer enough variety to keep me coming back. But when The Big Cheese opened just down the street from where I live in a storefront I'd watched turnover time and time again, I had to give it a shot to support the neighborhood.

Review: The Big Cheese Poutinerie 3401 N. Clark St. 872-206-8749 Rating:  !!! (out of 4) Off to a good start God help you if you're a stoner and you live anywhere near the intersection of Clark and Roscoe streets. There you'll find The Big Cheese Poutinerie, a new purveyor of a munchies-sating and artery-threatening dish known as poutine. Though the name itself sounds, well, less than appetizing*, poutine is a snack made from French fries crowned with cheese curds and gravy, thought to be invented in Quebec in the 1950s.

Thanks to their 45-38 win over San Diego on Sunday, the Packers have scored at least 24 points in eight straight games for the first time in franchise history. (Hear that, Brett Favre?) And this was a road game against a team with a potent offense. Though in the grand scheme of things, it might be better for the Bears if Green Bay goes undefeated - until their clash in Week 15, that is. If the Packers are 14-0 entering that game, then...

"Do you remember when it was 80 degrees in March last year?" Yup, that might be the most common complaint muttered by coat-clad Chicagoans this spring. Sure, summer didn't come early this year as it did last, but that hasn't stopped dozens of restaurants and bars from planning stellar new outdoor spaces to debut once Mother Nature decides it really is time for warm weather in Chicago. Here's a teaser of what rooftop bars, backyard patios and sidewalk cafes are ready for business, weather permitting, plus dozens others slated for debuts throughout the summer.
