CBS will add the new comedy “¡ROB!” to its Thursday night line-up at midseason, the network announced Monday. But what's with the strange punctuation, you ask? Rob Schneider stars as a lifelong bachelor who just married into a tight-knit Mexican-American family - and that's how add an excitement to a TV show title in Spanish. (It's not working, CBS. ¡I am not excited by this announcement!) “¡ROB!” premieres Jan. 12 and also stars Cheech Marin, Claudia Bassols, Diana Maria Riva, Eugenio Derbez and Lupe Ontiveros.

Perhaps it's because I watched "Braveheart" last night and can't get William Wallace's motivational battle speech out of my head. Or maybe it's because I felt like Tom Hanks in "Castaway" during Tuesday's White Sox game at the Cell. White Sox fans: IT'S GO TIME. I came from my mother's womb crying "Go Go White Sox," and as such was raised carrying the giant chip on my shoulder of Sox fans being less prominent than fans of the team chasing a 100-loss season on the North Side, yet STILL outdrawing us. The 2012 White Sox may be a flawed team.

Here's an interesting bit of news I received today for all you fans of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", "Fringe" and "Boardwalk Empire. To anyone who follows the yearly awards-show banter, it's no surprise that the Golden Globe TV nominations announced Thursday would leave many viewers scratching their heads. You never know what you'll get from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which hands out the Golden Globes--except snubs and surprises. The group isn't really qualified to name the year's best in anything, except it's obvious bedazzlement by glitz, glamor and big-name celebrity. Anyway, on with the snubs list.

How much do we love awards shows? So much that, even though they're not nearly as classy as Sunday's Golden Globes, we can't help but get a little psyched about Wednesday's People's Choice Awards. Because while America's super classiest stars, TV shows and movies are waxing and mega-dieting for the Globes, Adam Sandler still has a chance to win something this season. Here's what to watch out for at the choiceiest show of them all. damoran@tribune.com | @redeyedana You've gotta know ...  -- The trend of awesome ladies that started in 2011 isn't stopping any time soon.

Doesn't seem to matter how long-in-the-tooth some CBS series get, they just ain't never going away. Cases in point, "Survivor," "48 Hours Mystery" and "60 Minutes," which launch their 25th, 26th and 45th seasons this fall. The network finally put "CSI: Miami" out of our misery, but "CSI" is back for its 13th season. New shows joining "America's most watched" network include the comedy "Partners" and dramas "Vegas," "Made in Jersey" and "Elementary. " Click the links in the "related" field at left to learn more about the new shows.
